I've given up on BF2, I might come on from time to time and play, but the patches have done nothing to help except fix the server browser and add an ungodly amount of lag. It's gotten to the point that no matter what I set my graphics at, I sometimes get bad FPS lag and always have a ping around 50, but I guess by 50 they mean 200. When they finally fix this game I'll come back

i feel your pain, the server browser isnt fully fixed though, filters dont work, same version means same version, i keep geetting kicked for unmodified content coz the server is 1.01, not full means not full etc. Needs more filters too, filter by ping, location, map etc, its incredible that a mp focused game doesnt have this...

the browser doesnt get accurate pings too.

nope just map size, populated, not full, ranked, battlecommo, recorder...

You can type a number under "Ping" and it will show only servers with pings under that number, and there might be a spot for "Map" too.

oh yeah i see it now, never even thought of using it, the browser doesnt get accurate pings though so the ping one is useless atm, i typed in 100 and selected the minus icon and it just got servers with 0 ping...

Try updating your firmware on your router, also, call comcast and ask for a new modem(it is free). I only get lag on some servers that are crap, I am fine on all EA servers and zboard servers, and a bunch of other random ones (most servers work fine for me).

That sucks...

I wonder what the deal is. I have a medium-crappy system and I run the game just fine on low with no problems from the server browser (filters work just fine as well). I've never been kicked from a server for modified content or a different version message...I've had 0 problems running and playing the game.

I wish everybody had the same experience I do.

btw Dalamari, what gfx card do you have?

I run everything maxed except AA- AF and I get fine FPS... You should try a reinstall...

From his post, it sounds like he means latency lag..not FPS drops...
Then again, he said graphix set at something and he gets 50 ping feels like 200? I dun get it

I have issues with the server browser myself, so its just trial and error for me. Other than that, I get stutter, but after about 5-10mins after playing the map, it doesn't lag. The patch helped me out a lot, now I don't sit there stuttering to an almost lock-up when joining the server. Wish I could've played with you some Dalamari

I just hit 5000+ today.

By saying that it shows 50 ping and feels like 200, I mean that when I tab it says I ping around 50, but I lag all over the map and eventually I just get dropped, sometimes I get lucky and can play a half round.

I just got BF2 today, and...the FPS is horrible. I used the same exact settings as the demo (I checked), and it seems to drop every second. I bumped the resolution down, but to no avail. I will try lowering AA to none.

Otherwise, the game's as smooth as my dick. No problems with the server browser.

It is getting kind of bad... every game I go to, everyone sits down, and must have a weiner roast or something while I struggle using all the Commander Abilities, and My Abilities, with 8 people. They are waiting for the damned jet to spawn, even though I have clearly stated the enemy has captured it right infront of their noses.

Yeah what Foxtrot said...I got everything on medium, and shadows off and lighting low, and I can play with 90% visibilty WITHOUT LAG!! woohoo, FU 9600XT..

Why do all of you get so many problems with BF2? I have none yet my PC barely meets the minimum requirements...

2.6 Ghz Pentium 4
1 GB DDR RAM
128mb Nvidia FX 5200
17" CRT

Anyway, I barely play the game because it's too buggy, takes forever to load, and I have to have all my settings on Low...

sorry but your vid card sucks ...everything else is fine but you need a new vidcard ...the 5200 is just about the worst card you could have that isnt more than 5 years old

Well it might take forever to load looking at your specs, also the low settings since you have a dx8 card.

for me i've noticed no major bugs, minimal lag, there are always ranked server slots available and the game rocks in and out of a squad
