I'm getting a little worried...

The Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, and K-Mart ads came today. Not one had a single mention of the existence of Half-Life 2, much less details on preordering. What is wrong with Vivendi? Most people still only have a vague idea that Half-Life 2 is even in production at all, much less with a release date a little over a week away! I don't care how much the game is hyped - people aren't going to buy it if they don't realize that the game is on the shelves!

With that rant out of the way, where do you think would be a good place to pre-order Half-Life 2? I want a retail boxed copy, but I know that many stores often give away free gifts to those who preorder. Should I wait, or reserve a copy right now? Where?

Personally, I think that Valve has an existing community big enough for it to do extremely well - not to mention that for the past year, every big PC magazine has had like 4 HL2 centric issues.

I also laugh at anyone dumb enough to pre-order a copy at EB. They over-charge and FS & BB will have like 120 copies the day it comes out.

I also laugh at anyone who buys through steam for a set price plus shipping and exchange rate when FS & BB will have a lower than usuall price the first day.

So do yourself a favour and shop around. Or do your parents a favour and tell them to shop around.

Where are all you people from. Here in Canada we got FS & BB that always have the games the day they come out. Most of the time it's the cheapest place for the first day. It's crazy they actually lower the price on the first day. I got UT2k4 for like 10 bucks cheaper than anywhere else.

Actually, I bought the gold for many reasons, not just because I am a fanboy (Read, not JUST Because). For one: Not any of the shops in our region (Powys, Wales) are going to be supplying Halflife2 when it comes out. They haven't even HEARD of it.

Secondly, I get extra goodies, and a Collectors edition box to boot. Who cares if I don't get the CD's or cases. I can make my own and they will look as good (if not better) than the real thing.

And that's about it.

In the just released PCGAMER UK or PCZONE cant remember they are still going on about Vivendi stopping HL2 and no mention of the 16th....weird that this was sent to press after the 16th was announced. In Canada I don't give a rats ass about how much game info some sales guy knows. HOW much and WHEN. They will have the game the first day and for less than anyone.

People at EB can suckit. Only 6% of them know what they are talking about and the little kids all over the place piss me off. "OOOH POKEMON LEAF GREEN"

I hate other gamers for the most part. It's called modesty you jag-offs. You don't have to talk about how cool your PC is or when some offshore game is coming to the US market. It's all prefrences and it's more fun to talk to your friends about it.

no theres no shipping charge, as it is not shipped to us. we d/l it. Plus we get DOD:S and HL:S for free w/ it. 4 games for $60. Versus 2 for $50 in stores, plus DOD and HL:S spererately.

I have these ads as well....but what disturbed me was "guaranteed lowest price"....but no price.
