Im getting mad !

I have been trying to fix this problem for about 5 months now ?? I have a combo drive from memorex and it is 48x24x48x16x and it ran perfect for about 4 months.

It just all the sudden stoped playing DVD's, burnt CD's, burnt DVD's about 5 months ago !?!

It only plays game disks and actually cd's you buy, like software and stuff..

I have re-installed windows xp home. I have uninstalled the IDE conection, then reinstalled it.
I have unistalled the drive itself and reinstalled it.
I have tried 4 different IDE cables
I have taken out one of my harddrives and fixed my combo drive to master
I have switched my drive to PIO mode and then back again .

All of these do not work. Can ANYONE HELP ME !?!?!???

naff drive... there are two lenses for a combo drive a DVD one and CD one... it sounds like your DVD is knackered... if tis still under warranty... get it replaced

I had a 90 day warrenty thats it. :dozey:

This drive works fine in my friends computer also...

Ive tried like 7 DVD's they all do the same thing in my computer (the DVD does not even show up on my computer), but when I treid this drive in my friends computer everything works perfectly ...

OH yeah and I cant burn anything on my Drive either ...

possible drive incompatibility... how old is your mobo etc... if its quite old maybe a bios update could be tried... other than that... they are only about £30 nowadays

I just recently bought my mobo for 87 bucks online. It is really good mobo and I used my combo drive on this mobo for quite some time before it just gave out on me . :frown:

then there is some incompatability witht he Drive... and you mobo... try the bios updates... if all else fails dont buy that brand of drive again.

i went to the website ..and it is sooooooooo confusing !>!

It says to update your bois click here ( and then It gives me a crap load of things to do ) !!!!
