Well in the summer exleast. I know it might be a bit early posting for advice on tourist attractions etc. but I'm way too excited about this trip since I've never been to America ever in my life. I have a relative in New Jersey so me and my family are gonna stay with her for a bit. Then my mum has a friend who lives in long island so we'll probably stay with her as well. We're not sure what we're gonna do after that. What would you say the best state or city to visit near new york?

Skip New York and go straight to Boston. Boston is FAR SUPERIOR.

Go to Pennsylvania, fun stuff there...real fun stuff.

Don't do it, he's trying to get you to go to Amish Land where he'll try and sell you a hand-assembled wood furnace and a ride in his buggy.

lol jersey

lol san francisco...

My mum's friend used to live there as well (the same friend who lives in long island). Her son wants to live there when he leaves home because of, in his own words: "The men are gay and the woman are beautiful".

You should tell him that the women are also gay.

Hey! Don't judge me.

San Francisco>Jersey>Philadelphia

I've been to San Fran a few times, its a cool place. It gets a bad rep for having a high population count of gays, but that just means the city is a cleaner place to live...in theory.

There's some fun stuff here! Like.. uhh... The uhh... Go to Pittsburgh and you'll have fun! :D

No one wants to visit you.

You gonna get raped.

This is a lie propagated by...well, I don't really know whose agenda this is. The tourism board, maybe. Because you can walk down the street here and you'll see very few gays, depending on where you are. But you know what you'll see EVERYWHERE?

Goddamned BUMS.

Bums everywhere.

Bums crawling out of other bums.

Although because of this, every night people come out and literally hose down the streets. Take that, cardboard houses and shopping carts full of your belongings.

That is true, I remember seeing a LOT of bums. I remembered this one that hid and would jump out at tourists.

Meh, too cold during the winter months. The women wear too many clothes.

I like it in Florida. Especially Jacksonville and Orange Park.

NJ>PA Anyday.

Time square is fun but STAY AWAY FROM THE CRAZIES!

China town has good food.

You can haggle down just about any price if you're going into a souvenir like shop.

Make sure you see Ground Zero, it's pretty cool. There's a really neat church across the street with all kinds of stuff from it. Also the World Financial Center is cool and has a really good view. I have some pictures from it they are lovely.

Hope you enjoy your trip, I love New York City but I rarely go. It's a neat place.

Oh hey, speaking of Chinatown, go to the Chinatown Fair arcade and report back about Street Fighter IV.

NY > all other cities

Compared to Philadelphia, Boston, etc. New York has much more recreational things to do. Especially if you like sports, like me.

Boston cannot compete with New Yorks recreational stuff. It shows in the revenue of certain things. AMIRITE? :p

The night life is fantastic, here.

I heard there's a big apple somewhere to look at.

No Krynn, he said "The Woman", singular.

He's talking about The Woman, you know, the woman that are beautiful.

Sorry I'm grammar illiterate. Never payed attention during English. ****ing grammar whores....

Why go to the US when you can drive a few miles south and find yourself in a far superior country.

England isn't superior to Scotland. You don't even have deep-fried pizzas.

We lack many of your awesome mountains and deep fried boots. But I ment superiour to Americaland.

NYC is a tourist's wet dream. So much stuff to do, so little time. That being said, watch where you walk and please don't stop in the middle of a busy street/sidewalk to marvel at the sights - you're going to die a horrible death. All kidding aside, stay away from the outer boroughs, Coney Island is useless during the winter, take the Staten Island Ferry (stay to the right side of the ferry) if a tour on the Statue of Liberty isn't available (or you want to save money - the ferry is free), and try visiting the Transit Museum in downtown Brooklyn (it's actually an abandoned subway station transformed into a museum).
