I'm Looking for a Game...

... similar to X-COM. Something with the same turn based battle/large scale base building. I've been playing this classic for a while, but crashes are becoming frequent and the difficulty is rediculous (though I'm always up for a challenge in this era of pansy video games).

I dont really care about the age, or graphics or whatever, just sorta the similar style. The gameplay is kinda unique, but I figure people have played so many games here someone is bound to have played something similar

I heard that there was a spiritual sequel to this game a few years ago, but that it was not that great. If anyone has some recommendations that would be superb

Although it's available on Steam, the version on there crashes due to a memory leak. The Version available at strategyfirst is supposed to be crash free. Alternatively hunt down a hard copy. After a good 200 hours of isometric turn based squad combat, come back and thank me

Its a slow burner, but good fun when you get into it (and get decent weapons).

Yes please. HoMM3 though, not 4 or 5.

Me and my sister still play 3.

I played HOMM-HOMM3, the ones after that aren't too good.

I don't know of any similar sci-fi games though.

The latest one is the only I played, it was just a demo but it was enough to get me interested.

I love games that are like Advance Wars.

Not quite.

Commandos is real-time whereas X-Com and JA are turn-based.

It's still damn good, the second one is the best imo.

Fallout 1/2? No building though.

Front Mission 3 for the PS1 is great, but no base building either.
