... similar to X-COM. Something with the same turn based battle/large scale base building. I've been playing this classic for a while, but crashes are becoming frequent and the difficulty is rediculous (though I'm always up for a challenge in this era of pansy video games).

I dont really care about the age, or graphics or whatever, just sorta the similar style. The gameplay is kinda unique, but I figure people have played so many games here someone is bound to have played something similar :D

I heard that there was a spiritual sequel to this game a few years ago, but that it was not that great. If anyone has some recommendations that would be superb :)

Jagged Alliance 2

Although it's available on Steam, the version on there crashes due to a memory leak. The Version available at strategyfirst is supposed to be crash free. Alternatively hunt down a hard copy. After a good 200 hours of isometric turn based squad combat, come back and thank me ;)

*drools at screens*

Thanks for such a quick response. Is there any way I can try before I buy?

EDIT: Found a demo, will try it ASAP :D

Not to hijack the thread or anything but...

Are there any sci-fi games that are like Heroes of Might & Magic?

Yes please. HoMM3 though, not 4 or 5.

Me and my sister still play 3.

I played HOMM-HOMM3, the ones after that aren't too good.

I don't know of any similar sci-fi games though.

The latest one is the only I played, it was just a demo but it was enough to get me interested.

I love games that are like Advance Wars.

Oh, I just remembered something. Wasn't there a game called Commandos 2 or something that everyone loved here? Is that similar to X-COM and Jagged Alliance?

Not quite.

Commandos is real-time whereas X-Com and JA are turn-based.

It's still damn good, the second one is the best imo.

Fallout 1/2? No building though.

Front Mission 3 for the PS1 is great, but no base building either.
