This has probably already been discussed to the bone but this goes to those idiots who stole the source code. What I want to know is why they would want the code to a game that is not complete. It just ruins it for the rest of us. Idiots.

Sorry. Dunno what came over me. Just FYI, most of us on here avoid talking about the stolen source code and what it contains. There's something of a rule about that...and it pisses off the moderators.

the source code is simply text, it's the actual programming of HL2

the beta on the other hand, is like an early playable version of HL2

Okay, since you're quite new, I'll basically tell you what's going on. There are two parties :

The beta downloaders. There are two types :

Arguers : Often seen acting in a pitifall manner, when questioned behind their actions offer all sorts of excuses. Common ones are ... "I'm not hurting Valve *directly* ", "I just wanted to test my system to see if I can run it properly ", "I was just testing the modding tools ", "I wanted to test out the buggy/combat etc" and ... "I just wanted to test out the Manipulator". These are the people who think that they are justified downloading the leak.

Non-Arguers : These are the people who have downloaded the leak, but accept that they have something wrong. These people have some ethics, and I feel that they should be treated like non-leak downloaders, assuming they've deleted the leak off their computers PERMAMENTLY.

And finally there are .........

Non-leak downloaders : I'm one of them , and a majority of forumers are to. We haven't downloaded the leak, and intend to play the game in it's FULL glory. The best party overall ....

And that should bring you up to the times on the leak

Its a build not a beta, and it is no where near the e3 demos shown in 2003

It was not a LEAK it was stolen. Leak is when someone who had a build of the game (tester) put it on the net. THis guy stole it (hacked) VALVe and then put it on the net, if you noticed that VALVe always refers it as a stolen build of half-life2
