Well, I need to take the bus in a couple of hours (2am) to Mexico City.
My parents gave me permision to finally get out of Mexico to go back to France, but I need to go to the embassy to validate my grades acording to French education. Now, I've lived in other countries alone, took my airplanes alone etc etc. This wouldn't be a problem exept its freaking Mexico city, the world largets, criminal, poluted city. 22 mother fuking million people living there. Its full of criminals, you can get killed, shot, stabbed or kidnaped.
I just need to make the 6 hours trip, then take a cab to the embassy (hoping the cab is not a kidnapper).

Then comes the freaking embassy. Embassy are a bunch of uselless burocrats. Last time they asked me 80 bucks to have 1 page "oficially Translated" I mean, isn't that what a freaking embassy is supose to do?
Then they are never there, you see this guys get paid by French law, they take French holidays and Mexican holidays, so they are never around, sick, maternity leave, absent, working, reunion etc etc I heard it all with this guys

Knowing the burocrats they are, I'm sure they are going to say I'm missing a paper or a picture.

I have a bad feeling about this one guys, so, If I don't post by tomorow evening, something has happened to me.

Enjoy a slow and painful death. You are wasting your time. Mexico city is like a crappier even more polluted version of America with people who wear weird hats and do crazy stuff like run into your car on purpose to get money. I don't trust Mexico, if you go to a Mexico at least go to New Mexico, it is cleaner there, you can drink the water.

Don't drink the water.

Damn you Montezuma!

haha, its Moctezuma. Does the water make you forget ?

Montezuma is another spelling of it, even if Moctezuma is now the preferred. I'm oldschool, baby ;)

At any rate, it's the same thing. One character difference... it's like color vs colour.

If you're young enough to need your parents' permission to leave Mexico, what are you doing there by yourself? Hitchhike with some of the locals for the U.S. border before we do something silly. Actually, do yourself a favor and go kick it in Belize. I don't think you'll regret it. From what I hear, even Cuba would be better than Mexico City.

From wikipedia.

Urban Problems

As one of the largest urban areas in the world, Mexico City suffers from no shortage of the problems common to many large cities, including traffic, poverty, and pollution. This is perhaps exacerbated by Mexico's developing country status. This city has a high number of street children; some estimate as many as 50,000. The mountains and volcanoes surrounding the city trap polluted air in the city and contribute to the city's serious problem with poor air quality, although major strides have been made to improve the pollution situation in the past 20 years.

Violent crime is also a major concern; in 2003 Mexico had the second-highest number of kidnappings in the world, with some 3,000 reported cases. In taxis, a particular problem has arisen; individuals are sometimes kidnapped by unauthorized taxi drivers, in order to empty their bank accounts at ATMs. Victims are sometimes kept overnight in order to bypass daily withdrawal limits. Inside other transportation, mostly microbuses, pickpocketing is still a common activity, and Mexico City inhabitants take various levels of precaution to avoid being victims of this. As a general rule, if you are unaware of the route you are to take then you should only use official taxis from stands ("sitios") as these a closely regulated.

Police reform has also been a focus of the government for the past decade; there is a general sense of distrust against the authorities, as conventional wisdom holds that all Mexico's police forces are corrupt one way or another. This issue came to a head in November 2004, when an angry crowd in Tláhuac was whipped up into a frenzy and burned two undercover federal police officers alive [4] and seriously injured another, on rumors that they were kidnappers.

Just for the record, it's colour.

BTW, GL in Mexico.... You'll need it.

Well, it seems like you're only in for trouble if you're not well prepared... or there's always the chance you'll get kidnapped.

In any case, good luck.

Hmm... I've never seen it spelt "Moctezuma" before :/
Montezuma II or Moctezuma (mk-), 1466?-1520.

Last Aztec emperor in Mexico (1502-1520). He was overthrown by the Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortés.

It would be okay if kidnappers were hot young ladies looking for a good time. But they aren't. They are not hot, they are not young, and they are not ladies. They are crazy ****ing strongarm phsycos with lethal weapons and only want to take you for all you are worth. Have fun in Mexico City! :D

What about it? I'm right, you're wrong. It's called dialect. It varies, and both are correct.

My thread says

COLOUR OR COLOR? Three quarters of the respondents preferred -our endings.

That means most CANADIANS spell it the CANADIAN way! :D

Sorry to derail your thread, Adrien C.
