Alright, I had DoD, CS, and regular halflife installed. I got steam. It sees the Team Fortress, Day of Defeat, and Ricochet (whatever that is). But it has CS and regular Halflife greyed out. When I do install game. It just hangs for a minute then nothing. I'm obviously doing something wrong but I'm not quite sure what it is. =/. Any help?

well, when you download the FULL installer for steam (730 megs around) then it will install everything for you, this includes (CS, DoD,TFC,Richochet,Team Deathmatch, etc.) i just Uninstalled everything pertaining to Half Life (including cs) and let the steam installer install them all. If you install the full steam program (the 730 meg one) then it will install CS 1.6, adn everything else for you... Try that, uninstall all your old stuff (that is if you want cs 1.6), and install steam over again.

The theory is it SHOULD update it though, right? And by reinstall, do you just mean steam or halflife and everything else too?

1st of all, do you want to keep CS 1.5, or do you want CS 1.6?? If you WANT cs 1.6, then UNINSTALL everything that involvs half life, like Half life, and all mods you have. Then IF your STEAM is installed, UNINSTALL it, and install it again. (a good thing to do after you uninstall your half life stuff is download a registry cleaner, adn clean out your registry, that way you can do a nice clean install of Steam). (i use Ace Utilities at www.acelogix.com). If you DONT have steam, then install it when your computer has no half life or mods installed on it. When u install steam, it will automatically install all the basic mods including cs 1.6, and then whatever other mods you want to install, make a folder in Steam\SteamApps\HalfLife\[email protected]\(your new mod).

hope this helps, if you still dont get it write again:bounce:

yes it SHOULD, but if it still dosent, id say download the newest client (installer) and reinstall STEAM. That would be your best bet.

Alright, I'll give it a try. Still trying to get a good grasp of the theory of steam. Not quite sure how it found DoD and TF but not CS or Halflife regular.

hmm that is wierd, i jsut downloaded my Steam last night and am still new to it :D n00bs helping n00bs :) anyways, tell me what installer (of steam) you have and then try what i had posted, good luck!

Alright, it's working now. I downloaded the same one as last time. Thanks for the help.
