but really, with my 9800pro 128, i get 30 fps woth 1280x1024 at max seetings on cs:s. this was after the laytest update

on the vst i get 35fps average. same settings.

what fps, with max settings, should i get on hl2?

What Driver do u got for your video card and what are your other computer specs?

When you say max settings, does that include full AA and AF? If so, then it doesn't sound too out of the ordinary to me.

yes, but im saying what about hl2?

also

3ghz intel
1gig pc3200
4.9 cats

would a different driver do the trick?

Is that 128 bits?

Anyway, you shouldn't worry. I with x800 xt pe have the same problem, I'm getting 20-75 fps on max settings on res 1024x768. You just don't know how annoying it is when you get like 35-40 fps whole the time (when running) on 24 man server with that card and can go down to 25 in fire fights

(ok maybe you do know)

Its beta, all we can do now is hope that it will be alot better when the final product comes.

wtf man...... I don't know what to belive

Well, according to the VST test, you'll be getting 35fps average in HL2. That's what it's designed for after all. :) obviously, that doesn't mean you'll get 35fps all the time, it might sometimes peak at 60fps, or go as low as 20fps. It is an average after all. Remember also that optimisations might still be happening to the engine, and HL2 might not even be as demanding as the stress test, so it's hard to tell. But if you really want a higher average rate, I suggest either lowering your AA and AF, or lowering the resolution. Consider yourself lucky though, I can hardly get higher than an average of about 5fps with all max settings on this machine:

AMD 2600 XP
9600 Pro
512MB RAM

5 days ago, I got 100 fps as avarange in hl2 test and now I'm getting 88 thats on max settings res 1024x768 and on res 1600x1200, I was getting 74 fps before and now 68..........something is wrong

Personally, I perfer playing at 1024x768 even with my system. I do use heavy AA/AF though. That way my lows are very playable.

I mean you're playing on MAX settings on res 1280x1024 and 30 fps as an avarenge.......

So your processor is 2-3 times better than mine? I have a 3.06 ghz that I'm going to break soon.

i dont get it, but new drivers, any one?

New drivers won't make much of a difference. You play on max settings, your fps is going to suffer. Try turning them down a bit.

How would we know? Do we have half life 2? We'd just be guessing as you have to.

On VST it was 100 fps before(thats 5 days ago) and now 88 fps, its still muh much much more than I get in CS:S. Haven't tried 1200x1000 but on 1600x1200 I got 74 before and 68 fps now. Thats on max settings.

I changed my mobo and my psu thinking it will solve the problem but nope it didn't. Ok it did for awhile but later it turned normal again. All I can think of right now is that my 3.06 ghz sucks and its OCed to 3.32.

3.06ghz doesn't suck that bad. At least not compared to mine.

It has 533MHz FSB, heard alot that 2.8c is better(stock speeds) or atleast as good.
