Honestly, this video makes me go all emotional and pumps up my adrenaline. It makes me want to paly HL2 over and over again. It makes me want to cry and hug this game and sing praises to Valve.

WHY IS BREEN SUCH A MATURE AND BRILLIANT CHARACTER? Look at that speech in the opening of this video! That's better dialogue than most CRAPTASTIC movies coming out these days! Oh, God that guy, Breen, that diabolical villian...please bring him back, Valve!

You have crafted a storyline of BRILLIANCE.

Listen, Zoidberg, I know G-Man doing the solo is VERY out of character and something I'm not too comfortable with myself.

What I was talking about is the opening speech and the video as a whole. Omitting the fact that the video is using G-Man as a vocalist and well that's just plain awkward, this video is GODLY.

It captures the beauty of the game and man...it just gets me EMOTIONAL. I love this series.
 
yea thats one of my favorites....one day i want to make one of that quality, got the perfect song and everything that would capture the right mood, just not skilled in the editing part.

I'm lazy and cba to click the link, but G-man doing a solo ... is that the Breaking Benjamin hl2 music vid one ?
 
Ah thought so, no need for me to click it then :p but yeah, it does give me the urge to play through hl2 again, however i'm already trying to complete 4 other games so adding one more to the list would just kill me completely 0o
 
It's a brilliant video. Heck, I thought Valve should hire the guy who made it. "I'm still seeing Breen" makes for a better trailer/ad for a game than anything else I've ever seen. I think that guy could have a job of making trailers, just obviously avoiding spoilers.
 
I just wish G-Man wasn't signing.

I showed this to my friend, who is also a HL2 fan, and he found it more humurous. I did too in a way. It's just kind of ajrring to see the G-Man, who is meant to be this mysterious, seldom seen, seldom heard kind of character belting out a solo.

Otherwise, though....this video is BRILL. PURE BRILL.
 
Wow... that's just... unbelievable, although I feel for being called "I'm still seeing Breen" it didn't have a whole lot of him in it. But other than that... brilliant. Got a good chuckle out of seeing G-man do something of that caliber.

I just recently completed HL2 and WOW... what an experience. The plot was great, gamplay was exelent and what a hell of a game. It was too much fun.

God I've always loved this video. There is a newer version though, with the speech cut out and some old footage taken out and newer footage added in.
 
Breaking Benjamin? Hahaha! No. Nuh-uh. **** that. What a bad choice for an HL2 video. And G-Man singing?

I'll give him props for some decent editing skills. But it made me want to throw my computer out a window.

I seriously hope I made that clear. :D A lot of it just panning shots from the game, moving from line A to B, fading or whiting out here and there. The cutting was good, but then that was all there was to it. Nothing you couldn't do with Adome Premiere in a week.

Even then I still take issue with the singing G-Man, and Breaking Benjman really doesn't strike me as fitting with a post-apocalyptic enslavement of humanity.
 
Seriously, that video was very good, and in my opinion, one of the best I've seen. I'd say unless it was absolutely horrible, there's no need to say otherwise, unless of course you try something like that yourself.

Wait, wait, wait.

You are trying to prove that he has decent editing skills, but you have absolutely no proof whatsoever that they are "merely" decent. I find he has great editing skills, and until you show me your sublime skills, I will continue to think so. If you want to see examples, visit Machinima.com and look for a few other machinimas. Many of them are of the same caliber (which means HL2 has a lot of good machinimas, woo \0/)

About the music, that's just a matter of taste. :p

Even if he was an amazing editor, I would still take issue with the actual content of the video. Seeing as how I care little for Breaking Benjamin, find it jarring to watch G-Man sing, and have already played Half-Life 2, I personally don't see much of worth in this video.

Perhaps his skills have better application elsewhere.
 
Not everyone likes Breaking Benjamin. Personally I think they're terrible.

So your reasons for not liking it are all just personal beefs, rather than actual talents, or lack of such involved in the video?

*Shrugs* I personally thought it wa awesome, even though I've played the game. But then, I find things like G-man singing quite silly (and therefore funny), and like Breaking Benjamin, so... eh.

Both, really. It just doesn't feel appropriate for HL2. As for the actual editing, I'm not saying he was shite. But I don't think it was stellar. If he has the capacity for more, I don't think it shows in this.
 
Yes but this IS hl2.net and we all know what happens when people express their opinions here :p
