im stuck

Playing half life 2 early in the our benefactors level. I have got the new gravity gun but i cant jump. There is a small rail before a small drop which leads the a beam thing rising out of the floor. i assume this is the way to go but as i cant jump i cant get there. Is the no jumping thing normal?

I've never suffered that problem but many other people have.

It's a common bug, as you can see from the other people who had it:

As these threads say, the usual solution is to make the game reload the level by typing in a code.
