I'm torn, I need help!

I'm at a crossroads, and I don't know what to do guys. Earlier this year, I bought a 52" sony wega HDTV, with HDMI, capable of 1080i/720p etc...

Anyway, I wanted to get ready for the "next gen" and now, I'm not sure what I want to do. On the one hand the PS3 is really enticing, and I really would love HD movies right out of the box. The downside is, the only game on the system I am remotely interested in is Metal Gear:GOTP. That, and, it isn't coming out until the holidays...

I could get an Xbox360 right now! But the downside here is, not really any "Great!" titles out yet. I would like Gears of War, Splinter CellA, Rainbow 6: Vegas... But what else is there to look forward to?

Basically I don't want to throw down this much cash on a new system, only for a few good games and nothing else. What are your thoughts?

Wait until the PS3 releases to make any decision on a system (except the Wii of course :thumbs. By then, some great titles will be out for the 360 and we should hopefully have an idea of what great offereings from the Sony camp look like.

The other big consideration is the format wars. While it looks to many people that there will be no winner and consumers will be buying a player that handles both HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs in the future, the gaming implications might make you consider one console over the other. Since the PS3 games will all be on Blu-ray discs, that leaves a whole lot of space for these ever-more complex and beautiful games whereas 360 games will only be on DVD which might mean disc swapping in the future. PS3 games will also feature no region locking, so gives everyone the option of importing where they haven't had it before.

However, it really comes down to games and I am still on the fence, though maybe leaning slightly toward the PS3 (esp. after a price drop) because my favorite games are most likely going to be there. That said, the 360 has some really sweet looking games that are exclusive too, but many will be on the PC too, so perhaps I will just upgrade with the money I would have spent on a 360.

Dead rising is a pretty killer app.

I'd take Mass Effect over any anounced PS3 title. Get a 360 now, enjoy Dead Rising and the other games available, look forward to Gears of War, Alan Wake etc, and wait for PS3 price drops. I'll be getting a PS3 after they've been out for a year or two.

360 is well worth the purchase. The dashboard is elegant and live simpily rocks. I never had as much fun online as I did with Burnout Revenge. Also dead rising is both the cats pajamas and the bee's knees rolled into one flavorful combination.

And then you sever the cat's legs with a hedge clipper and it's kneecaps spray bees which shoot eyelasers and engulf the pajamas in a fire of awesomeness.
