Halflife2.net I'm visiting the BP oil spill to get a firsthand look at the devastation. If you're interested, hit me up. I'll be leaving tomorrow from New Mexico and going to various parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. I'm a 24yo engineer with an oil company and this is by far the most disturbing thing that has ever happened in my lifetime. I could use a few more citizen journalists. Peace.

Bring a camera so you can make us all feel awful.

And good luck :/

An oil employee not trying to downplay the devastation? <gasp>

You're a good man!

I live on the east coast, i'm sure i'll see the disaster first hand soon enough.

I live in Jackson, Mississippi. I was just down visiting my great grandmother, uncle, and cousins in Gulfport and Biloxi a few weeks ago. Didn't get to see the beach though. Wouldn't be able to make the trip unfortunately.

I'm in New Mexico but unfortunately for me I also have a job. Take lots of pictures and post back.

Seriously, when are we going to consider nuking this ****ing hole?

Answer: Only when oil is coming out of our faucets.

It took you all this time before going? It really doesn't hurt to visit once in a while... show it you still care! NAG NAG NAG.

What's Gulfport like now since Katrina? I was attending a trade school there for several months before the storm and had to leave after the government issued a mandatory evacuation.

Except now there's fewer casinos ammirite? Several of the bigger ones got destroyed I remember hearing.

BTW, it seemed like to me there was a larger black demographic than white rednecks? Then again, I was only there for a few months too so....

Nah man. There's a lot more rednecks down there. Yeah the casinos got wrecked. Favorite aquarium out by the beach got wrecked too. A friend's sister worked down at the Beau Rivage before the hurricane. She said pretty much everything was flooded or demolished, which is a shame since that place was pretty awesome as far as hotels/casinos go.
