importing Maya models into Source?

Hello there, I have a slight problem regarding creating models and importing them into the Source engine.

I'm using Autodesk Maya to make the models in question (in particular models to be used in a mod project as weapons and pickups) and have been unable to find any information on how to import models from Maya into the source engine/Garry's mod.

So basically my question is: is it even possible, or am I better off importing the maya models into XSI and then importing from there into Source?
 
I haven't decided yet. I want to make Prall's exporter for maya work, but it's very picky. So I have been thinking about takin my models into XSI for an easier export. You can download Prall's exporter and try it out though :)
 
i thought they had some at iwannamap.com
not sure though
but like you say you can always export them to a 3d app with an exporter
