I am making a small single player office map for HL2 and naturally the props from CS:S cs_office would be a good choice to place in my map. I have the archive unzipped using GCF Scape and have them placed in a folder. How do I add this folder (props_office) into my Hammer editor for use with prop_static and prop_physics? I am thinking if I could decompile the entire model folder from HL2, then add the props_office folder into this and RECOMPILE it back into a .gcf file this will work.

Can anyone help me here?

Well i map for cs source and I can use any hl2 model and didnt have to extract anything, its just readily available, not 100% sure that is true the other way around but I dont see why it wouldnt be. Sorry I know that doesnt really answer your question but you might just try opening hammer, making a prop static and see if you can browse to props/cs_office or any of the other maps for cs source.

Nope.

Even if I could maybe change the models root directory while I place the props but alas there is no option in Hammer to do so.

I know that CS:S mappers can use HL2 props alright but you can't do it the other way around. :(

Bastards.

grab the cs source props, and put them into the hl2 props root directory

Yeah I figured that much out but when I add them to the map their textures are rendered as pink and black squares but you can see the outline of the object.

Get the texture(s) that the prop uses as well. The texture is probably named similarly to the prop...
