The first world war was a horrible, bloody mess. It was a churning bloodbath of mud and trench-footed corpses all piled in heaps and tangled in barbed wire; a war that is said to have killed off almost an entire generation. Strange, then, that we haven't yet had a game about it. Oh wait![br]In Flanders Fields is a modification based on just that war, aiming to recreate with as much realism as possible the intricacies of trench warfare and early 20th-century combat with iron sights, locational damage, climbing (gasp) instead of jumping, gas attacks, and lots and lots of artillery - a weapon which played an incredibly important role.[br]

[br]These screenshots show off the First Battle of Marne, and two light machine guns (another weapon that typified the Great War). You can find more screenshots, and more info, at the team's website.

No jumping? Finally, why can't all mods include this? Jumping is lame, real people don't do that stuff.

Also, looks neat. WWI might turn out sorta interesting.

Does it have cavallery?

Let's hope it's lacking somewhat in the realism stakes - otherwise as soon as you leave the trench you will be instantly cut to pieces in a hail of machine gun fire (which will be slightly less annoying than sticking your head round a corner & being instantly sniped in CS:S)!

Not quite. Although machines were reponsable for more than 2/3 of the deaths in WW1, they were extremly difficult to aim, and could only be fire in short bursts. A well planned and timed charge over-the-top could take an enemy trench without much difficulty (but a lot of casualties).

Really, really looking forward to this mod lads.
Iron sites, manual bolting, mantling etc. bring tears to my eyes :)
Realism is something which grows on ya, when infected there is no return to arcadish games like dodS etc.

Monk.

The Chauchat? Come on...thats probably one of the worst guns ever made in the history of guns. It might be slightly useful if it had an option for throwing it at an enemy.
