I know there are lots of people here from europe and I wanted to know if anybody heard of the house of detention in clerkenwell. I just saw a TV program on it and it freaked me out. Here's a link about it.

http://www.ghostclub.org.uk/hod_main.htm

The place was a holding area for people awaiting trial for prostiution, stealing or any other types of crime. The place is 300 years old and has a very bad track record. Even children where held there. A 9 year old boy was hanged at that place for something. I'm kind of interested in this sort of thing, since I like buildings that are sort of strange and have a very dynamic history.

There was this one guy name Michael, who was a prisoner there and became friends with some guards and was set free of his cell but not of the building. He was allowed to torture men, women and children. Some of the things he did were cutting of limbs, heads and did some very unspeakable things to women. He killed thousands of people while he was there and he threw the bodies into a pit (which is now sealed up).

For me, This is a very interesting place. This doesn't even come close to the hauntings of castles in scotland or england.

Not the worst of cases you could have said. :P
"Murder, rape and wearing tight leather shorts" would have been more frightening crimes.

Anyway, allow me to be the first skeptic, don't believe in ghosts, I will when I see one.

Its an old prison, unopened for centuries. Course theres going to be ghost stories. Same would happen if it was a hospital, or nursery. Perhaps I'd be more interested if it wasn't a tourist attraction now. Kind of ruins the image.

Wow, creepy stuff indeed. If that stuff about that Michael guy is true thats horrible

People have tried to do investigations there before. There was this one camera crew who were there to talk about the place, 2 hours later the crew ran out and left their camera's in the building. Tells ya how interesting the place is.

You go Egon!

Yeah, there was an old burned down School House in my small town in NE.

Well..they ended up fencing it all up, but as a child, rumors were around that Mexicans lived in there ready to kill anyone going in. It just turned into ghost stories when I found bones in a Grinder looking machine in the back.

That's the most haunted place I've ever seen, and I once saw a heeping bowl of haunt!

Who actually believes in ghosts, when there are the ghostbusters to call!

I'd love to spend a night in a building like that.. to see if anything does happen. And if anything did happen, I'd probably freak out and run away screaming.. stuff like that really scares me :P but i'd like to see firsthand whether it's real or not..

ah! i remember. Thanks komrade. :p

Who your gonna call? Ghostbusters! If there is a computer with access to the internet and teh food i'd happily live there :P pfff ghosts. It just needs a proper lighting system and it's ready for sale!

Urgh I was reading the site in the middle of the night when my cousin started knocking on the window.

Michael killed thousands of people all alone? That's a whole lotta killing. I doubt he would be able to maintain his good relationship with the guards though. He'd be busy killing people all the time, and we all know a person can't keep up there end of a conversation when their killing. Michael, you son of a bitch.

It's all in the mind, trust me, i know a lot about everything.

You can even see a ghost if you expect to, as long as your expecting to and are scared.
It's like when you stay up late and read a ghost story on the net, everyone else is asleep and you are sure you see shadows moving behind you, you get freaked out then a fox tips over a bin outside and you ****ing shit yourself.
Now imagine some random creaking in stairs in a supposed haunted house, that sound like footsteps, as they expand as the heating comes on or whatever it can sound just like footsteps, in the hightened perception you pick up on everything, you end up thinking there is a ghost there.

Trust me, there's not, think about it ****ing logically.
