planning on upgrading from my 9800 pro in the next month
i play quite a few graphics-intensive games like bf2 and fear etc so i need the best!
oh and im not planning on OCing
my budget is under $300 canadian
considering this:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index....7466-11-AT (21067-01-20)&manufacture=SAPPHIRE

my specs:
athlon 64bit 3000+
asrock 939 dual sata2 agp/pci-e
1gb pc3200

id like to stick with ATI but i can be persuaded otherwise
any suggestions?
:D

For Canadian dollars thats as good as it gets for under $300.

X800 GTO would be the ATI card in that price range. The X800XL is over $300.

It matches the 6800GS in some games while other games the 6800GS gives you more framerate. The 6800GS is a better choice if you want better performance for a little more money.
Performance Mainstream cards reviewed.

Isn't the GS version lower than the "vanilla"? I know that a 7800 is better than a 7800 GS, or is that totally wrong?

;( boxing day sale at ncix had the 7800gt for $299 canadian ..personally I'd wait cuz it's now at $389 and should dip further in the next month or so

I'd look into getting a 6800GT, shouldn't be long before they go under $300...
Although, If you waited for a 7800GT to go under $350 (which would probably not be for a while) then that would be a way better buy...

do you need an sli motherboard to run an sli card on its own?

Nah, you can run them so long as the motherboard has a PCI-e slot. And about the x80GTO2, people give it great reviews becuase it has 16 piplines (with a BIOS flash), and its possible to overlock it and make it into an x850xt becuase essentially the GTO2 uses the R480 core which is the same as the x850xt.. I don't really know how it goes though, I'm just saying what i remember.

so since im not planning on overclocking, should i go with the 6800GS?
