If someone can sit there, and look at the actual PHYSICAL effect humans have had on the world, and then say, with a straight (generally smug) face that there is no such thing as global warming, that our actions are not having a wide and adverse effect on the environment, then no amount of fact will ever EVER sway them. they are the foolish, the ignorant, the rich, white, christian conservatives who are ****ing the world for the rest of us.

oh here we go with the white and christians comments...now all of a sudden its the white christian people who we should all point the finger at...what an ignorant statement

kmack has a point though, the majority of the people that think global warming doesnt exist are conservative republicans, which are mostly white, rich christians

I actually found it ironic, because the only person i know who thinks that global warming doesnt exist is my father, who just happens to be all those things :)

thanks

zeus - just because it seems insensitive or bigoted, doesnt mean it isnt entirely true, my statement is true lol, so funny you would say otherwise

Dont even go down that road KMack. Extreme generalizations like that are no good.

Uhm. So?

Has not life gone on despite both tropical climates and ice ages?

when was the last time you saw a wooly mammoth? or several species of early man? ice ages are obviously survivable, but it will change life as we know it.

Who in the hell thought up that stupid excuse for a hypothesis?? Solar activity causing Global Warming?? The sun has been around for 6 Billion years, and now all of a sudden..someone blames the sun for warming up the earth. That guys a dipshit.

stupid sun! Why does it have to make us all so warm? Go back to where ever you came from you stupid sun and leave us alone!

Here's the way I see it.
1) Stuff in the solar system might be heating up by itself-- they saw it on mars etc

BUT
2) We produce a lot of stuff that gets caught in our atmosphere
-->3) We know this stuff traps heat

HOWEVER
The effect it has on the earth is debated endlessly, and theres no absolutely 100% certain way to know anything when it comes to this subject.. yet.

SO
While we know we may be hurting things, it may help to try and prevent it getting possibly worse, we can measure some changes, which is good, but it wont be for a long time before we can look back and actually tell what we're doing.

THEREFORE
I think we should treat global warming as a real issue, but one that needs a better focus, not an outdated protocol or two.
Its something that has the potential to be very bad for us, but theres nothing we know for sure, we need to know more.

I completely agree with you, do you have any opinion on a course of action though? frankly, global warming non-withstanding, we know what we are putting into the air is bad. you can barely see 5 miles through the smog in some cities around the world. asthma rates are skyrocketing, acid rain is a detriment to not only the environment, but our cities as well. regardless of the catastrophic global effects, shouldnt we just do as much as we can to stop pollution just because its.... pollution.
