'indestructable' HL2 enemies.

In HL there was an enemy that was indestructable as far as i know. It was the Rocket Engine snak thingys. All right in HL you could kill the first three by firing the rocket engine but the ones encountered in 'surface tension' were pretty nigh invincible.

Could there be an alien in HL2 that is indestructable, that you can only destroy by plot line ways? What about the strider or that shiny thingy in the sewers that deals with the combine soldier in the vid? could the most you do is damage it so you can get away?

I just thought id throw it out and see if anyone had any ideas

Hmm... I remember them... I always avoided them. Anyone ever killed one? (besides the required one).

It would seem likely in keeping with tradition of the first game. I dunno how many time I used rockets/ machine gun power on those tentacles, but to no avail.

Well, we already know from preview reports that a Strider can be killed from shotgun fire, but I don't know about the hydra... I have a feeling that Valve won't use indestructable enemies that can only be killed by plots/scripts, it just feels a little clichéd now.

Oh, no, the Tentacle was a Scripted death. May be possible to kill it if t was unscripted.

I didn't drop it, but it was taking up space on the Sticky list, which needs to be kept down. There's still the newspost on the mainpage that links to it, though.

they are killable the mp5 grenades did well (since u use unlimited ammo )

Well if you shot the green tentacle dude he'd go back in his hole and hide for a couple seconds giving you enough time to run by. but no, they're unkillable, i'm sure the hydra will be the same way. I'm assuming that the green tentacle dude had a body underneath the ground, like only his tentacle would come out and grab whatever it could than bring it underground for it to eat. that would explain why you couldn't kill it simply by shooting the crap out of the tentacle. it makes sense and if you have a better theory lets hear it.

It would be cool if the tentacles or the Garg would return in HL2. It makes it all a bit more familiar environment

Yup that's right. But on the other hand, the tentacles had bodies as well and they seemed pretty impossible to kill with regular arms...

you diddnt kill it you just made it dissapear, i used over 30 charges and he diddnt die.

You can kill the gargantua but not the tenticle things.

I think the hydra must have some larger body mass underwater to be able to rise out of the water the way it does, also it drags the combine it attacks into the water, as if thats where it's mouth is.
