For those who thinks the Orange Box a bad deal because they already have Half-Life 2 and Episode One, Valve has confirmed to Joystiq that the individually boxed Orange Box PC games are due to hit physical shelves on April 9th. [br]

Valve has yet to officially announce pricing details, but retailers currently list Portal at $19.99,Team Fortress 2 and The Half-Life 2 Episodes Pack at$29.99 each.

I think those numbers are a bit high almost half a year after official release..

You would have to be silly to not buy the Orange Box simply because you get 2 games which you already own for free.

I agree that it is not reason enough to not buy the OB, but hl2/ep1 were not free. They came at the expense of the black box. Pricing details were not anounced, but it would obviously have been cheaper than the OB.

Agreed. Buying them individually obviously is not as good of a deal as buying the OB. Buying the OB is the best option if you want more than one of those games, even if you already own 2 of them.

Agreed. Black Box was their PC offering for just the new stuff without the price increase as well but got axed for retail. Although it was still packaged with ATI cards.
Wasn't it axed because retailers or the distributor didn't want multiple SKUs for launch?

The price for the black box would have been $39.99. Either Valve released that information or ATI announced it's value since it bundled them with their cards.

so seeing orange box didnt make you curious when you look at it and think 'wth?, OOOO thats what it is' then you put it back because you own 2 of the games

Me. People who want the seperate box art :p

Though apparently they're ok with having THREE additional packages a few months down the line.

Morning, Afternoon and Evening, It's bullshit and I like the smell of it.

Apparently the boxart looks vaguely decent now!
