In a matter of days I have lost about 300 MB's from C: without installing anything...

eh?!

I did a virus scan, nothing was found.

do a disk cleanup and a disk defrag,I always gain some precious space from those

Not enough space for a defrag, and whenever I try to run disk cleanup, it doesn't seem to get rid of that much space. It used to work excellently, but now "compress old files" doesn't seem to work at all.

try deleting files/programs you don't use at all
then,your internet browsers history
any unnecessary icons

Wow, got rid of about 500 MB's of stuff there. Thanks.

thats not sarcasm,right?
sorry,I can never tell when someone is being sarcastic on the internets

I bet if you disable system restore that will free up some space.
Windows Key + Pause/Break on the keyboard (or right-click My Computer). System Restore tab and check 'Turn off System Restore on all drives'.

Could be temporary files thats downloaded automatically through your web browser. 300 MB is a lot for just web browsing, have you watched embedded videos? Like form Youtube?

There's always room for a de-frag. Its just incredibly slow.

Happened to me once.

Turned out my flatmate was playing a game on my laptop while his was off getting fixed, except his keybindings were different from mine and he kept pressing the button I had bound to fraps video recording. He recorded gigs of him levelling in a MMO...

My computer barely started up the next morning since I was already low on space.

Its also great to delete all files that appear in the temp folder. I remember back when I had 98SE I managed to scrape up 100mb
