install problem

yo i try to install hl2 and it goes through alright untill the part where it says 'Setup has determined that you have DirectX version 9.0b or higher installed on your machine and will not attempt to update it', there are no check boxes or anything to click just next, i click next.. the button registers the click but the installation doesnt proceed, without giving me any sort of error or anything i just cant install. any ideas please? =(=(=(

I had the same problem. In my case, I was trying to install the game to a dirive that did not have enought free space for the game. I uninstalled Steam and re-installed it to a drive with more free space and the game installed with no problems.
