Install Troubles

Oh wow, wonderful... I finally get the game arrive, I load up the CD, the menu appears, at which point I'm getting really excited, so I click Install, PC does the busy mouse, then just stops working and goes back to the desktop. I'm thinking maybe it bugged, so try installing again, guess what, same thing.
So I try using the setup.exe on the disk, rather than using a menu, and that lovely thing gives me that stupid popup saying "Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
So, I try lots and lots and spam MS with Error Reports, cause now I'm in a foul mood.
Any ideas on how to fix this at all? I mean, other than 16 bit games, Ive never ever had trouble with installers before, this is rediculous, is the CD corrupt or something?

d/l the game off a torrent and use your cd code

Could you post your specs, reboot., or just not install the CD's, add the key to steam so u can do it that way, alot easier.

Is that actually illegal? Not that I mind...
Anyway, I'd rather have a working CD than have to resort to that.

AMD Athlon Xp 3200+
1 Gig Corsair Value Select Ram PC3200 DDR
Radeon 9800 Pro
(Not that any of that should affect a CDs installer...)

shiouldn't be illegal if you own the game, nothing wrong with your specs, the cd may be screwed up

Make sure your not trying to run the DVD version of the game in a regular CD drive.

That could be it. Your computer looks more than capable of running it.

Ive got a DVD Drive, so, should work.
I went onto the EA site and had a look at the trouble shooting guide, they recommended copying it all into C:\Disk Images\Disk1 and trying to run the installer from there, well, that didn't work, but atleast I get an error message now:

So I'm gonna try closing everything un-neccesary, then I'll try a reset, and I'll try the other PC later.

[EDIT] Is it possible to get a copy of someone elses Setup.exe, as I reckon its just that file thats broken, save me a 2 gig download.

sounds almost like it doesn;t have enough ram to run, that's odd
i';d help, but after i install it won;t even start on my computer, just hard-locks the machine

Ooh, I tried the other PC and it works, so it looks like its my DVD drive then, time for a new one I guess, its started skipping on music CDs recently aswell...

I'll just install it over there then copy all the files over for now, cheers for the help though all.

Sorry for the double post, got the game installed, but now I can't connect to servers, its like the "Server is Full." error, but has no error message, just quits from joining back to the server browser.

you got farther than me, have fun, try to go for unranked servers, they're usually less full and have lower ping
