Install us-version on existing steam-version

Hello.
As I'm one of the "lucky" guys living in a country where it was only possible to download a censored steam-version of HL - orange box, I decided to buy the uncensored import version of HL - Orange box.
I tried now several times to reinstall Episode2, Portal and TF2 with the delivered discs but I always end up again with the censored version. :-(
It's even not possible to activate the us-version with the new key because steam keeps telling me that I "already have active subscriptions to the game(s) associated with this product code"
Well...any ideas how to install the uncensored version would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Wow, that sucks.

The bad news is that importing the Orange Box makes no difference to Steam - its the same games on your account regardless of where you bought it from. They probably tell your country of origin from your IP address.

There must be a work around of some kind, I suspect extracting the relevant blood, gibs, etc effects from the 'normal' GCFs into the relevant game folder(s) in your \steamapps\<accountname>\ folder might bypass the low violence stuff.

Unfortunately I can't confirm or deny this as my quick google only found people wanting to enable the low violence stuff.

Yeah, i think Steam detects where you are from the IP address that you are using and therefore if the country you're in censors things, even if you buy an outside copy it will still be censored.

The only way I can think of un-censoring is to take the files out of the un-censored version and putting them in your game folder.
