Installation help, please.

I'm trying to install HL2 on my computer. However, afer about fifteen minutes I get an error message that says:

Error 1305. Error reading from file C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\base source shared materials.gfc. Verify that this file exists and that you can access it.

So what's the deal? It's done this three times now. Thanks in advance.

How Did You get your game- legally or illegally? Did you download it or did you buy the actual CD? You have to state these things when you asking this type of question.

I have the actual CD. I bought it a couple months ago at Wal-Mart.
