Installation problem

Ok done a search inthe forums & I have this problem...

Just bought HL2 getting the error " cabinet file HL2.cab is corrupt ...could be a network, reading or error with package"

Now loaded the game on lappy with no problems - so disc ok - just lappy would explode if I played on-line with it
checked the wires etc & cleaned the optical drives
(I have the DVD version)

Have also copied the whole DVD into my HDD & tried to install from there but to no avail (got same error message).

I have also made sure that steam is updated & I have no choice in what I load (cs vs HL2) as I have the DVD version & you don't seem to be able to choose just HL2.

FarCry did this to my old system, turned out to be I guess the overclocking of my cpu, do you have any overclocking going on? Also what error # is it throwing at you?

sorry - error 1335

no overclocking just a regular system (buillt for me)

O/S is XP Pro

Hmmm go to microsoft's website and look up error 1335. It might help you figure out your problem

didn't think of that - doh!! found something that helped - now installed & steam is using my bandwidth (hope it works)...anyone have a similar problem go here...
