Installation Problems

Hello everyone! I got Half Life 2 around x-mas time, but unfortunatly my computer was broken and I didnt get it fixed until yesterday. Thats nearly 3 months without a computer!!!

Anyway, when I try to install it, everything goes smoothley until it tries to copy or find the file "base source shared materials.gcf" and then I get the error message "Error 1305. Error reading from file: C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\base source shared materials.gcf Verify that the file exists and you can access it." Does anyone know what I shoul do!!?? Please help before I go insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sniper:

Make sure you install both HL2 and Counter-strike source. I'm not sure if they fixed this yet but that seems to be the main reason you get the error. Even if you don't plan on playing CS just install it then delete it after.

I tried installing it with CS Source numerous times. The error message still pops up. Is it possible that my copy of the game is not working correctly and I just need to replace it? :angry: ;(
