Installing Half-Life (1) mods...

I can't seem to figure out how to install the original Half Life mods. Like, for Day of Defeat for example, in the installer it says something like, "...it should show your half life root directory, if not select browse and find it..." and I have selected the half life directory, but the mod will not boot up, instead I will get an error right away. I'm thinking that it's a problem with steam or something, as the mod does not show up in the mygames area.

You install Day of Defeat through Steam.

but day of defeat doesn't show up on there...

Enter your Half-Life CD key in Steam. That will allow you to download HL, DoD, CS, etc. through Steam.

ok, I still didn't get that working, but on hl2files you can download the Day of Defeat Steam Client, which I'm guessing should work..

Only if you already own the orginal half life and have it added into steam
