Installing HL2 two times

Ok... I just got HL2 and I am a bit scared to install it on my desktop computer right now. I would like to know if it is possible to have the same HL2 (code wise) on my other laptop that will be coming the mail. I just don't want it to be only based off my desktop. Thanks in advance.

You can have it installed on more then one computer but you can't have both running/logged-in at the same time.
