So im installing a new motherboard but i cant figure out where 2 connections are supposed to go. They are very tiny. The motherboard is ASROCK AM2 AliveXFire-ESATA2 R3.0 (low budget mobo lol )

1st cable: Has 2 holes, with 1 black and 1 red cable attached to it. It comes from the front panel.

2nd cable: Has 3 holes, but only 1 black and 1 blue cable attached to it. It comes from the Power Supply.

I have no idea what each one does, and i dont know where im supposed to connect them. The instruction guide doesnt help much either. I found one slot with 3 pins that could fit the 2nd cable, but i want to be 100% sure its supposed to go there before i try.

Pics:

This shows the general area at the lower right corner were all the plugs are. Im suspecting they have to go here somewhere.

1st cable, coming from the Front Panel.

2nd cable, coming from the PSU.

The instruction manual says the 3 pin plug on the motherboard that i circled with a question mark next to it is a Chassis Fan Connector. Would this need a cable from the PSU? (the 2nd cable?)

Anyone?

That's a fan connector.

Here's what I think, but I'm no expert -

If your motherboard only has one, hook your fan up to it.

If you had a second fan connector on your motherboard, you could hook your PSU to it, and be able to monitor your PSU fan speed in your BIOS.

EDIT:" sorry, didn't really read that well -

Hook the connector with the proper amount of pins. What is on your 'front panel' anyway? Really? Does the one with 2 pins even seem to fit correctly at all? The connector should be keyed. I see 3 pins there, so I wouldn't stick a connector with 2 pins unless it was keyed to fit.

BTW, everything on the motherboard is labeled, and tells you what it is.

There were several other cables from the front panel that were labeled and i knew where to connect them. But this one isnt labeled so i dont know its purpose. My front panel has Power switch, Reset Switch, and LED lights.

Yeah but you've got all those plugged in. They have a black connector.

Is there a fan in the front of your case? or a speaker? Probably a speaker (and therefore not necessary). The motherboard probably doesn't support a speaker, so don't use it.

This speaker (random find) looks like it has 3 pins.. So I'm not sure I'm right, yet.

another one.

Yeah, these both have black 'flat blade' style connectors, so they wouldn't fit in the first place. Can you find out what the wire leads to?

IT WORKS!!! :D i plugged the 2nd cable into that one plug and left the other one hanging. Everything works fine, finally...after an entire month without my computer!!!!

Me: Over 9000

Install the motherboard drivers. If it didn't come with a CD or DVD, you'll have to download them or get them from Microsoft update. These are things like USB controller, Ethernet, sound (if applicable). Generic ones might work, but it would be better to have the proper drivers.

yeah hopefully they're not the type to have like 3-4 LAN drivers and shit to choose from, kno wut i mean guyz
