DelaZ from the Half-Life 2 mod "Insurgency", has sent word of a new media update featuring two new sexy looking models.[br]The T-72, modelled and textured by Tolchok. And the Humvee, modelled by Spydr, Ankalar, and Dennis and textured by Polygon.[br]
[br]Be sure to head on over to the site here.

Insurgency is one of the few mods which looks amazing already :D - Be sure to look around their site and message boards, some more up to-date stuff lurking around there :)

Great models and skins though, they have a really talented team.

thats why i love this mod, my most anticipateed hl2 war mod. i so hope these vehicles are drivable, and not mere statics, this will blow cs s out of the water

This will blow CS out of the water, maybe not in player numbers, but certainly on gameplay and quality :)

when can we expect it?
They say,
We are currently shooting for a Q2 2005 public release of the first version of the mod. It won't contain everything advertised, but will be the majority in order to maintain solid gameplay and visual quality. Secondly, we are not looking for anyone to beta test the mod at this point.

not sure if we have any Desert Combat fans but i myself thought it fantastic.. seems like this is the evolution of that w/ realistic modern day warfare.. i wish the M1 had zoom and night-vision like the real thing, as that's one of it's big advantages..(due to its' laser range-finder and effective long range engagement) :p

You won't be controlling anything larger than the Humvee in INS. Tanks will be controlled, if any at all in the battle, by AI. This is an infantry, not vehicular, based mod :)

well i can see you have lots to do besides working on playable tanks..
i like that you're doing iron gunsights.. pardon me if this was mentioned but i hope you're adding the ability to go prone.. also like to see limitations on running and aiming.. breathing heavy.. etc..
good luck!

Yes, those are all quite standard in our genre :)

Why is it called insurgency? Is it a civil war mod?

If you are talking about the US Civil War, that was ~200 years ago. Obivously you aren't. :p

I think this is for the "War on Terrorism" going on now from the looks of it.

Oh, and Insurgency because the resistance over there are refered to as "insurgents."

The definition of Insurgency is:
An organized movement aimed at the overthrow of a constituted government through use of subversion and armed conflict.
'Modern warfare' (i.e. Post-1945) has mainly seen insurgencys for conflicts (with a few exceptions).

No, this mod is not based on the 'War of Terrorism.' The first two theaters that we are focusing on are the Balkan War(s) (1991 - 1999) and the Iraq War (2003 - Present). We also plan on focusing on the Chechen conflict in the future.

Oh they call them insurgents? That is among other things, arrogant and demeaning.

You like the terrorists?

If the United States invaded Canada and you defended your country.

Would that make you a terrorist or an insurgent?

The difference between terrorists and insurgents is their methods of operating. Terrorists generally like to strike civilian targets by cowardly means (such as bombings, hijackings, etc.). Insurgents on the other hand are fighting a military force and although they do sabotage (by bombings, similar to terrorists), they engage directly with the opposing forces with guerrilla warfare (most cases anyways).

Well insurgency is fighting against established power. So I guess Americans call them insurgents to make themselves look like the established power. That's why I figured it must be a civil war game.

Insurgency's shaping up to be a great mod. Right now due to their large quality team and the absence of plenty of updates I'm sure they plan to release the mod and related media in very large updates to discern them even more, especially by getting out the first beta in a very playable stage.
