I've just received word from DelaZ of Insurgency MOD that PC Gamer have posted an exclusive preview on their website. Here's his post:
We have had the priviledge and honour to have an exclusive preview written for PC Gamer's website![br]
It will consist of 2 parts and provides a more in depth look at how INS is designed and outlines a potential gameplay scenario for the mod. [br]
It also includes some brand new exclusive media! Head on over and check it out![br]

Here is some of the new released media :[br]

You can find out more information about Insurgency MOD here, and you can view PC Gamer's full preview here.[br]

It seems modders these days are becoming more skilled. Either that or the people who possessed these skills before are starting to take the idea of modding more seriously.

They have more to work with.

Wow... now what do these models mean?!? They will have to be reduced quality for the actual in-game play (of course).

I think this will be the new "CS" for HL2... As long as the running speed is not arcadish!

edit:
CHRIS_D The PC GAMER link is this

the one you gave is only the picture on Insurgency's site.

Actually not. Why the hell would a mod show you models that arent meant for ingame use?

They wouldnt. These are the models that will be used ingame.

I think this will be the new "CS" for HL2... As long as the running speed is not arcadish!

Durrrrrrrrrrrrr, maybe you should actually read up on a mod before posting silly comments like this. I will say this once again, just because we are modern and have modern weapons doesnt mean we are CS.

Unless of course you mean the new "CS" as in how popular Ins will be on HL2 like CS is on HL1, then YES! That is definetly what we will try and achieve. ;)

Ins will definetly NOT have gameplay like CS, so no worries.

The models will undergo some poly optimization. Mostly unseen ingame, and barely noticable polys that are further away from the eye, for instance. The textures will remain the same for ingame (maybe make improvements once we see how they look). So the above is a pretty good estimate of how it'll look ingame, except of course you cant judge it completely by the render because that's rendered in 3d max, and ingame it'll be in source which of course renders differently, but it'll still look great :)

model renders? YES!!! i am over the moon.
good weapon models does not a good game make

in other news, the guy shouting looks like a blowjob king or something

We don't intend the media above to mean a lot, you're right, they are just weapon renders. The purpose of releasing them is basically to show our community that we are working quite hard. If you want stuff better than weapons, feel free to go to the website, there's plenty more stuff to look at including reading about the mod.

About your last comment, it's not appreciated. if you'd like to say something that negative about our concept art you can maybe do so by politely criticizing it instead of making blatent stupid remarks like that.

Thanks

hokay.. I love the renders and what Ive read about the mod on your site man ! awsome ! but hey, plz plz plz get the weapon sounds GOOD, I mean like Raven Shield good or BF Vietnam good.

Usally I find a mod with a neat name, great screenshots and all, but Ingame the weapon sounds awfull and the reload animations are all crappy :x try to really make it realistic. remember that weapons dont sound like soft air guns or whatever, try to make them sound powerfull and for god sake try to get the RPM (rounds per minute) right ! Firearms gets the RPM really really good :D oh man cant wait for this mod :D

Jeremy great work with the renders , I can easily say that those are the best weapon renders Ive ever seen

im just not going to get excited about any mod until the actual sdk comes out for starters, no offence to any mod teams.

You don't have to get excited, but the HL2 Community doesn't revolve around you. So, how about you just not post? That's what I do when I'm not interested rather than post immature comments.

Besides, if you took the time to read the article or even the website, you will see why most people are excited about the mod... not just because of the media that we release, but the design of the mod as a whole.

Umm, that's a real stretch for anybody to consider that an 'immature comment'. He stated why he isn't getting excited about it yet, posted a fairly valid reason, and said that he didn't mean any offence. That's not an immature post by any stretch of the imagination.

I assume he's going to be part of the HL2 community, and he hardly said that it revolves around him. He said why he wasn't going to get excited just yet, in other words his personal opinion, which is hardly speaking for others.

And I'm pretty sure that it's fairly reasonable for him to post. If all you want is a thread full of praise about your work so far, that's great, but it isn't going to bring much valid feedback in the future, so I'd recommend that you be a little more open minded in future.

In case you missed that one.

Heh, alright that makes more sense. Your post just tied in really well with the post above it, especially the 'im just not going to get excited ' :p

Simply from reading a few posts about this MOD and seeing those models makes me wanna play it. Definately seems to be the next big one.

Those models and skins are absolutely fantastic. The best I've seen so far. Great work.

Jaw dropping...

Well said Argyll. ;-)

Nice stuff all around as always. Count me in to abuse your bandwidth comes time to download this baby. :cheese:

I'm glad to see Insurgency mod doing great and staying strong. I know a lot of mods and their makers that just quit too early, not having enough patience because HL2 has been delayed 294 times.

WEEE!

That mod looks quite interesting IMO. I can't wait to try out all the mods in the future. There are so many of them ..

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but amazon.com, which has been listing Half-Life 2's release date as Nov. 1 for a while, has changed it.

Now it says: "This item will be released on November 16, 2004."

Let's hope it's official!

You insurgency folks, sure do seem to have your shit together.

rock on... it all looks solid.
cant wait to see your hand models.

We can arrange that perhaps...
are you guys planning to go the extra mile and take advantage of valve's facial animation technology?
(for example someone sneering while shooting their gun or something)

also are you planning to include the lip sync of the player model to when someone is chatting on the mic?
damn I wish you guys had the sdk! :)

So long as both of the above run well on network-play, you can be sure to see them in Insurgency. Our facial 3d and 2d art has been carefuly done considering that it will most likely have lip syncing and facial expressions, as well as the shader eyes showcased by Valve in one of their XSI tutorial thingies (not really a tutorial, more like a preview of what we'll be allowed to do).

I swear, those just look absolutely beautiful. The detail, the work, the effort, just...wow. Modifications keep coming close to being better quality then games themselves.

The weapon skins are beautifull - as are the face skins. Got some awesome texture bods working for that mod.
What I find wierd is that the game seems so close to CS.
Also wondering how well the HL 2 engine is going to handle vast outdoor terrain to accomodate vehicles.
