The extremely promising modification Insurgency has updated with a bunch of beautifully rendered tanks, together with a concept art piece portraying US Marine Corps and their equipment.[br]</br>
They have also recently been featured in both english PC Extreme and dutch PCZone Benelux. Congratulations![br]

One thing I'd like to know about is that thumbnail of a map in the mod tour.

Why must you taunt us so?!??!?!

Hehe, check out a stickied topic in our Dev. Showcase forum about our policy on releasing screenshots.

That is an INS map, but currently it is not up to scratch to show full screen, so a small tiny preview has been shown :).

Yea, its just a little teaser - We're progressing well but wont release any official ingame media until the quality is equal to or exceeds the quality we want the community to see the mod at.

Thanks for all of your interests.

ive continued to be impressed by the work and creativity pouring from this mod. This mod is definately in my top 5 most looking forward to mods and these new models prove the strength of your mod team.

Keep up the good work

damn they are good looking. INS team seems to be much better than the lazy Valve guys.

That has to be the Stupid Statement Of The Day.

I wouldn't go around saying that too loudly :p

but i wispered...
Sure Valve made the best game ever, but still it could have been better :D like all games can

It looks good... too bad they are only renders... CS 1.6 also had renders of weapons, but they looked like crap in-game. While I understand your decision to not give out much information because of the low quality, I think that this will damage your ability to get new people to play your mod.

When i first heard of Insurgency a year ago I wanted more... but since there was nothing more (and it wasn't excpected to be released anytime soon) I just forgot about it. Only after this news post did I remember about INS.

But w/e. You're the developers...

looks very promising...keep it up.

I'll keep an eye on this mod...you have any idea how much you have left to be done?

I don't exactly see the logic in that. We have at the time of writing 2236 registered members on our Forums. After every media update, we always get more. If we show work that is of lesser quality, do you think we would attract that many? People generally don't like to read much and the media that mods put out can be a push or pull factor for that mod. Put out good media and you will draw in the fans to read more into your mod and actually see what you plan to do. The opposite can be said for lesser-quality media.

Even if we don't show any media from now until release, I doubt that people will forget about us completely and then not pay any attention once we do release. I'm sure they would see the media blitz we have planned for pre-release and then the announcement once we will be out.

I think we would get more fans at release rather than leading up to release.

This all is if we get to release though, which I think we have a high chance of achieving.

...you have any idea how much you have left to be done?
We still have a ways to go, but things are shaping up nicely. Hard to say exactly how much is left to be completed.

Ah, well said Argyll. And yes, that is the way most games do it - they show a lot of high quality stuff right before they release to get their games back in the minds of the public.

Better to give people very high quality stuff right before release and everyone being able to know that they'll be able to download Insurgency in a matter of days or weeks, than show WIP screenshots now and have to make everyone wait months until we're out. That's our logic. We will continue to release information, renders, and .plan updates until we're ready to do this media blitz to keep those who are already a part of our community happy, and to help bring some others into the community. However, I don't expect to see the larger % of the people that will play INS until the days leading up to our release, because when it comes down to it the inner community/fanboys, I expect, will only be a small % of the people that play INS - even though a well appreciated and supported percent.

Thanks for the concern.

Amazing work, simple as. Looking at them you would think they where high polgon. I hope they arn't. The texture artist needs a pat on the back. Amazing Amazing Amazing.

Looks awsome Argyll, Ins is the most promising mod out there imo :)

A tank in source?!!!
Choose the right engine for your mod (Cryengine, Battlefield II)...I doubt that it makes fun to use a tank in those tiny source-levels. Source cannot handle vast landscapes...

Nontheless the screens are awesome...keep it up

Tanks will not be operatable by players. They will be controlled via waypoints by the platoon commander (and only on certain gametypes that correspond with the bigger map sizes)

Try to read more about the mod before jumping to that conclusion.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys :) Really keeps us going!

Awesome looking as usual, would expect nothing less from your mod. Keep up the good work Jer and crew!

If Gary's Mod has taught you anything, it's that nothing's impossible.

Awesome as always. The potential is through the roof for this mod.

I see a map screenshot on the main page but the "tour" doesnt work yet. Is there any map shots so far in the dev showcase? I couldnt seem to find any.

:)

Thanks again.

If you're a forum member at INS, click here.

If not, here's a snippet from that thread that should answer your question:

We decided, as a team, that we are going to preserve our ingame work until it is at the quality that we want to see INS at. A lot of mods have recently been releasing very Work in Progress screenshots of their mods; with HL2 textures, with very unfinished models and textures, very unfinished gameplay elements, and are overall taking the pictures in such a way to hide the flaws in their current early alpha of their mod - this is a method we wish to avoid. If we wanted to show you guys our Work in Progress, we could have shown you ingame screenshots weeks ago. But we don't want to show you something incomplete.
