Wow. This is surprising.

Sam McGrath of Project Offset just announced that their company was just bought by INTEL of all people.

I suppose Intel is really, really getting more aggressive in the gaming space especially with them doing this (and competiting with UE3) and also them starting their new DX10 line of card.

Today we have some major news to announce.

Intel has acquired Offset Software. Yes, you read it correctly!

Project Offset is going strong and we are excited about things to come.

Stay tuned.

First the acquisition of Havok, then the announcement of the PC Gaming Alliance, and now this. Intel is well on it's way to becoming a formidable game giant. Just what we need with the likes of EA. This is also really good news for the team at offset. Intel is an extremely competent corporation.

Very agreed. Intel is becoming a hardware and software gaming giant!

I really am excited to keep hearing more about Intel. They are becoming more and more interesting.

Perhaps, but thing is that they're mostly hardware afaik. So it's another M$ in another category, hopefully AMD has some chance still.

Just how big is the Offset dev team now?

I remember it being some 2 or 3 guys awhile ago.

Why is my first thought always 'they'd better not **** it up' now whenever a promising developer is aquired by a big name like Intel?

...

They'd better not **** it up.

QFT. That game should be extra amazing now. :(

Dont forget AGIEA and Nvidia and 3Dmark making a game. Huge things are coming!

Intel is pretty cool, but I don't like how they're relying exclusively on their financial clout in order to gain power. If they want to be a big name in gaming, maybe they should actually try doing something themselves instead of just throwing money at everything they want to assimilate. I think it'd get them a lot more respect than just buying out everything that moves.
The thing that's still in my mind is when they were busted for [insert term here] by making stores only sell their sh17 and not AMD.
