My sister has a laptop, this laptop is literally a breeding ground for spyware (and possibly viruses). I finally convinced my sister that I should go in there, reformat the computer and install a bunch of programs to make the computer secure once again.

The problem is she has files that she wants to back-up but doesn't have anyway to back them up. Since its a laptop, I can't just pluck out my CD burner and use it there, and I don't feel safe setting up a network between my computer and her computer (it's really that bad). I would like to stay away from spending money because this is most likely a one only time situation.

Any suggestions how I can back-up some data and music files (and possibly allow for remote scanning of viruses and spyware)?

if she has 2 partitions transfer on second and format c drive.
if not make with arconis partition expert.

I've used my PC and NOD32 to do remote scanning over the network from my PC to my brothers and it worked very well.

Maybe if you have a flashdrive, use it to copy files onto and then scan the flashdrive when on your PC. I know you don't want to buy anything but you could get a 2.5" harddrive USB inclosure for 20$ or an IDE adapter cord for 10$ and hook it up to your machine.

Not really sure what you want to do.

The flash drive is a good idea. I'll probably use that. Hopefully to much information does not need to be backed up.

*crosses fingers*

external cd burner maybe? 40 bucks at newegg. or you could just set the thing on fire and say it overheated... hehe.
