Interesting Steam information regarding Half-Life 2

Steam users: Half-Life 2 will be unlocked on Steam on November 16th as well. Unless of course any retailer breaks the street date and puts it out on shelves sooner, then Steam will unlock Half-Life 2 sooner.

Until I see this confirmed by Valve in an email or statement I'll take it with a pinch of salt. But interesting, huh?

Retailers, please break that street date as soon as possible.

Actually, I do believe this would be legal. When I worked for a movie store I know that if a competitor released a movie early we had to notify the movie studio, and if it was still on thier shielf an hour later we were allowed to release it.

Were the director and publisher locked in a lawsuit?

specially if people through retail are playing the game more quickly than their own 'immediately available' content delivery system.

They'll all be waiting for Valve to press the Launch button on Steam, too.
