As the title states i am having trouble with my browser. I just recently reformated and installed everything fresh, but now i can not open any link that creates a new window.

I have no popup blocker on
I have tried to lower the Internet security

This sucks

Any help or ideas would be appreciated

I installed service pack one and all the patches already, forgot to list that.

- Try right clicking and selecting "open in a new window" and see if that works.
- See if you can unistall some of the MS patches you have. Go to your control panel and select "Add/Remove programs". Hopefully you should see several patches that you can unistall. Find the ones that deal with explorer and unistall it. Of course you will want to reinstall those patches later (for security reasons). You are just checking to see if one of the patches you installed where corrupted or misinstalled.
- I don't have any other suggestions.

instead of doing it the hard way and right clicking the link, just hold shift when u click it. much quicker.

Well, heres the problem, new windows dont work. So opening in a new window just causes the some problem, im gonna try what blahblahblah said.

I conqur with ComradeBadger, I use only FireFox now, its a great browser, MUCH better and MUCH more stable the IE. FireFox hardly ever crashes.

do NOT do this. My comp does not work now, it just keeps restarting itself.

Now, i need to know how to create a boot disk, i have 2 computers luckily, gonna have to be a floppy because the one that doesent work does not have a CD RW.
Both computers have the XP home edition operating system.

either get mozilla firefox or opera. theyre both MUCH, MUCH better than internet explorer

Sorry. The reason I told you to do that was because I have had windows updates not install properly. Uninstalling and reinstalling has fixed the problem for me in the past.

Sounds like you now have the MSBlaster worm :/

Upgrade your Service Pack immediately!

I dont think i have the MSBlaster worm. The computer was fine, i unistalled the patches and it restarts it self, gets half way through restart, shuts down, restarts itself up, it does this continually. I cannot eaven access that comp. I have tried to boot from a floppy and the windows XP disc, but they do nothing exept slow the restart process. The only thing i can do is go into set up, but i have no clue as what to do in there.

Any ideas?

I don't know if you should listen to me, but I would reformat and reinstall windows.

I would if i could, but i cant. It wont boot of a disk.

Go in to your BIOS and switch primary boot to CD (so Cd-rom will be first, Harddrive will be second, and floppy will be third or whatever your bios has for boot selection). Put in your Windows CD and restart your computer, then select whatever option you want.

When you are done (if it works, sorry again :( ), make sure you change the boot order back to its orginal position (usually floppy, harddrive, CD).

I cant access the Windows Update site (as well as sites like IGN) on this computer... I have no idea why.

but I cant download all the critical updates because of this.
is there another way to get them?
somewhere else that hosts them perhaps?
or is there a way to dl them on my other comp (all updated though) and burn them?
or even better, just fix the problem I have with browsers (both IE and Firefox, as well as others I have used like netscape and mozilla) that I cant access certain sites.

I just formatted I figured it should be able to access them, but no go.

Hmm... can you get it to boot into safe mode?

Mr. Redundant, you may want to have a talk with your ISP.

I forgot to mention I am on a network.

I have my other computer connect to the internet, and share it's connection with this one via crossover cable.

the other computer can access all sites however, while mine cannot.

Can you go into more detail on this please?
And actually it think I may have deleated one to many things on the Add/remove progams, so dont feel too bad.
