So hopefully you all remember last week's 'leaked memo' about Gamestop/EBGames having all sorts of Wiis and DSs on sale this weekend that they were supposed to hold on to until yesterday. I usually never go in for this sort of nonsense but I actually went to a local Gamestop at the behest of my female companion and, lo and behold, they had Wiis in stock!! (And please note the plural there--multiple Wiis!!)

I have always said that whenever I actually see one that I will buy it right then and there and so I did and I finally am enjoying the 'new-gen' console for myself. I only have Twilight Princess and Wii Sports (of course), but so far it is some wickedly fun stuff. Rayman Raving Rabbits and Super Paper Mario are next. I can't wait!!

Listening to the latest 1UP Yours podcast, Nintendo warehouses in America are bursting with Wii's.

I don't understand what the financial benefits are to creating artificial shortages. Everyone and their dog already wants one and PS3 and 360 supplies are only set to increase.

Still out of stock everywhere here.

Congrats on getting a Wii though. They're great consoles :)

Got one in the UK.

It's crap, bored of it.
Just a gimmik, gets boring very quickly, although I've only played Sports and that monster truck game.

Well there's your problem :P

Another problem is that he just covered the majority of games that are actually worth playing on the Wii as of today. The only one he has missed out on so far is Twilight Princess.

Hahaha! Beat me to it!

I think it is great fun and it will only get better in time as some really terrific stuff is being developed for it as we speak, not to mention some of the truly kick-ass titles that are already available that I just haven't bought yet.

The 'gimmick' comment is the same thing they said about the DS and you know the stats for that little powerhouse, right? :E

I will like a wii

but imo the wii needs more that just 2D puzzle games to survive

1) Wii Sports is a lot of fun.
2) Twilight Princess is great.
3) Rayman Raving Rabbits = FUN!!

I'm waiting a) for money for a Wii b) For EB to get their damn Wiis in and c) For even more awesome games to come out for the Wii.

But man, BEST FIRST QUARTER EVER if they release this backlog after the end of the financial year for Nintendo.

I take it back VoS, as I was strolling past GAME at lunchtime today I saw a small poster showing "Wii now in stock".

Now I'm one Wii up with Heatseekers included. (No Tiger Woods left :( )

Hahaha! Thanks--I was a little sad there for a while.

Glad to see you were able to get one too!! Hopefully they can actually get their stock up in stores now so everyone can get one! Some great games will be on the way this Summer it looks like, but I still have to get Tiger Woods too. Can't wait to try Harry Potter on the Wii also--the wand idea is just plain brilliant!

As soon as some AAA, well reviewed titles come out I'll consider it.. until then it seems extremely gimmicky.

Wario Ware is good fun, especially when you unlock the multiplayer modes, and so are some of the Wii Play mini games - I have very heated Air Hocky games with one mate and my gf adores the spot the Mii game and Duck Hunt. Well worth the small price if you get it bundled with a Wiimote.

My most played Wii game seems to have been overlooked by most people and almost universally misunderstood by reviewers. It's Kororinpa - a ball rolling game in the vein of Marble Madness and Monkey Ball. Simple, fiendishly addictive (if you're into this sort of thing), charming and the best use of the Wiimote so far (it's the game Banana Blitz should have been)

Not for everyone, but at the very least well worth a rent. Don't believe reports of it being short either - seeing all the courses doesn't take long, but getting golds and unlocking all the balls/songs/bonus levels/mirror modes takes AGES. Clearing the 3rd bonus stage without falling off while getting a gold cup ranks amoungst the best gaming experences i've had :)

Don't bother with Tiger Woods on the Wii, I rented it and it's pretty mediocre-to-awful :P

I'm with babyheadcrab. I want a Wii, but I only see 4-5 awesome titles on it. Although, i only see less than that awesome titles on everything else...

(Bar the PC of course. :D)
