Experts say internet will go under in 2006 if all this spam mail and virus pattern continues.

Pfft, it's like the worries regarding China coming online... can you imagine what'd happen when the equivalent of the entire population of America connects to the Internet? (300 million vs 1.4 billion; although even then I doubt that many in China would have widespread access).

Well the internet could go under, however that requires destroying the 9 huge DNS servers spread out worldwide, and if you've ever seen the amount of security at one of those facilities, I don't think it will happen. We're talking fighter jets on standby, guards with assault rifles, everything, you name it. And even taking down 1 wouldn't **** anything up.

Won't happen, some people who may have originally went online for convenience may give up on it because of viruses and spam but no it won't be anywhere near dying. The internet is an entity with no central nervous system, you can't just cut off its head and let it die because there is no head.

the internet will never die. A more apporpriate and realistic question would be, will Peer to Peer file charing systems die? Some of them will enver die because of how they are built.. no central servers.

Honestly this does kind of worry me I mean just look at the past few years the huge spread of spyware/adware/viruses and whatnot. Obviously the internet won't die, but at this rate I see this being a very big problem in years to come. At least most of us here know how to protect ourselves.

Oh, but thats not all, guys. This is going to have a ripple effect. The spammers will then have to turn to telemarketing, and with that rush and the already increasing trends, the phone system will crash in 2008! And you know whats next,. the entire global mail system! Our economy will screech to a hault, our power will be shut off, all commerce, food, and medical supplys will come to an end and the new dark ages will begin!

Broadband....5 years ago i was on a 33k modem, today if i want i can get a 26 mb line...spam will not kill the net, virus can slow it down to some degree, hack attacks can severly damage the net, 4 some time.

To many fat men with cigars and chained dogs, watching their finaces, for the net to go down.

And still dont get, why a hacker (being a person who loves computers, and i would think networks), would try to kill the net.

Virus makers, well they should be shot with hot shit 4 the rest of their life!
