Interview with Gabe next month in PC Format

I noticed this announcement in our Slovenian PC Format there will be an interview with Gabe Newell next month. Since the magazine is licensed by UK magazine, it will very probably be a translated interview. Does anyone know when the UK PCF is released?

Agreed. Valve would do just fine if they kept mum until HL2 is finally released. Rehashing old info gets old quick especially considering the circumstances involved.

A year of waiting is standard. But it's the way Valve went about promoting the game last year that led everyone to believe it was SO VERY CLOSE TO A RELEASE. They built up the hype and anticipation way too much, then let us all down at the last minute.

I feel sometimes people around here are a little too obedient. A little too unquestioning and downright sycophants at times. And then of course this will evolve into the "Valve owe you nothing" tripe.....i'm waiting for the bootlickers to start that one up again....oh boy

We only knew the game existed one year ago , so I don't understand this.

For example , Word of Warcraft - people know the game is in the making alot of years and still doesn't have a solid release date , but I don't hear that the fans are angry at them , bitching and moaning (or do they?) .

gotta agree with you here, even if Valve makes great games it certainly does not make them gods on earth who cannot do any wrongs to the game community. I sincerily hope that Valve dosnt miss the date; Not only because I want the damn game but because it will just be a REPEAT of all the drama on these forums and like you said the resurfacing of "valve owe you nothing" threads and such.

Well, we want useful interviews, not rehashes of the same information 20 thousand times that is given to every magazine company in the whole world.

I don't understand why Gabe and some of his employees can come out of working for a day and recycle old crap. They seriously could have cleared this whole multiplayer mystery up a thousand times over with all of the useless interviews they do. They could also let us in on their progress. They don't speak, and when they do, it's old stuff that we've heard over and over and over again and again.

The interview will probably show the same old screenshots that were from pre-E3, and then the same old stuff.

I'm not getting mad, but I agree --it is indeed getting ridiculous as far as interviews and waiting go.

Its not the fact that most games are delayed its that Valve continued to say the game was going to be released on time when there was never any chance in hell of that happening, then the holidays 2003 rumour then the july rumour then the summer rumour now the fall rumour.

They refuse to give any even vague date on a release even though they are supposedly nearly finished.

and yes i know that one of the demented uber fanboys are about to start that "valve are teh gods i would suck their shoes clean!, you deserve no date!!!11!¬!!!11" crap.

what about all the people who preordered the game or got an ATI ticket, Valve owe them a copy of the game each.

There are numerous reasons why people hang around fansites and it's not always to read previews that regurgitate known information. Things i want to know in order of importance

1. When the hell the game is being released
2. The payment situation with steam
3. The source ports situation, how much they'll cost, if they're shipping free with HL2. The extent to which the models/sounds/textures have been updated.
4. Information on TF2
5. Information on Dod2
6. Information on the default HL2 deathmatch.

What this "new" preview will contain "blahah we have lovely physics blahblah, we're targeting summer, blahblah"

It's time to answer some new questions!

Everyone seems to be talking as if Valve give the same interview to a different magazine on seperate occasions. Most of the interviews lately have been from the same press day that Valve held a while ago. Were some magazines meant to say "Wait, PC Gamez0r Extreme came out 2 days ago, we won't run our interview"?

AND this interview seems to be a bit later than the others. Maybe there will be new information. But no, you're all complaining that there are previews. As if previews are a special thing that only Valve do. Read in any magazine any preview and it will say the same things as the others.

God, you people can get angry at Valve over anything.

EDIT: Although I'm saying this only if it's not just a translation of any interview that UK PCF did a while ago. Nobody's answered the question yet. Was there an interview with Gabe in this month's PCF?

Why were you even expecting the game to get out then?

It didn't come from Valve , so why start hoping the game will be released when the rumors say it would.

You are setting yourself for dissapointment and anger , by believing every rumor and acting like it's true or has a big chance to be true.

Yes , the "Summer" date is to general , but that's the best they can tell right now . Like Gabe said , he doesn't want to give a specific (sp) date , because they cant' and won't commit to one , just to realize that they can't meet it , causing more Valve-bashing.

PCF: Right then, so what is the situation with the hacker?

PCF: So, how do the physics in HL2 work?

Gabe: They work good! They are like...really physical and realistic. Did I mention that we are using the Havok physics engine?
