What classic games would you like to see on the iPhone?

I was thinking that I would love to have XCom: UFO - Enemy Unknown on my iPhone. A few missions would make the most tedious of train journeys seem like a breeze.

They should have a 4th Generation I-Pod flash-game where you have to knife the case open just to reseat a loose cable.

F***ing Apple.

I'd say something intelligent, but really I'd rather see classic games come to Steam or DS. Oh, ok. I hope that Sonic CD port got picked up.

Why the **** would I want a game on my phone?

I'd rather not be forced to use AT&T then play games on a PHONE

Also, picture texting

I found that an interesting read, even though I don't own an iPhone nor ever intend to. IMO Sonic CD is the best game of an iconic franchise, so Sega picking up on the port should be a no brainer.
There was a rather neat video, but it got taken down. The creator's words were pretty ambiguous, so either he was bitter over a cease and desist order, or they actually snapped it up and he needed to go underground. I'm actually leaning towards the later, since even SEGA must know that the following is utterly appalling for their image.

Ouch.

Oh, and I actually really dislike Sonic CD. It feels like they concepted an amazing first level and threw together any old crap for the remainder. Ugly neon colours, too many pinball elements and a crappy Special Stage.

how about Civilization of the itouch/iphone? cuz that's already here, today in fact:

I'd like to see diablo 2/3 on the itouch also starcraft and warcraft. Knights of the old republic or any other 3d rpg that doesnt rely on twitch gaming (why are they making fps on the iphone; they're awful)

you realise that the itouch is basically the same thing as the iphone except the phone part, right? no monthly fees (in canada it's almost $75 for a data plan (**** YOU ROGERS!)

Agree with Xcom and Civ. How about Alpha Centauri? Anything that isn't tilt based in the twitch world would be nice. Anything point, click and drag would be nice as well. I tried a space combat/simulator type game, think a super duper lite version of X3, and the tilt controls sucked for flying. Right now all I play on my Iphone is Peggle.

there's a demo so you try it before spending your 99 cents

All of the classic LucasArts adventure titles, like the ones recently released on Steam. I already have SMI: SE, so that is certainly a step in the right direction. Also all of the other adventure titles like the Sierra Quests, Simon the Sorceror, and any other 2D point 'n' clicks we can think of. :)

Also, all of my favorite dungeon crawls, like the Dungeon Master series, the Eye of the Beholder series, the Might and Magics, Legacy of the Ancients and The Legend of Blacksilver, Magic Candle, Questron, and loads more. I would dearly love War in Middle Earth as well, but I will not hold my breath.

My data plan is $30... Vancouver.

You need to get Vector Tanks

".. the most enjoyable retro offering to be found in the App Store. Great fun..." - Blake Patterson, TouchArcade.com Founder

“It's a pure arcade experience and one of the best 3D games on the platform.” -tech-gaming
If I were told to explain Vector Tanks in one word, that word would be “wow”. Vector Tanks is what most ports strive to become. Everything, with the exception of a few very minor things, is done to perfection.

Overall, Vector Tanks is a great game and was well worth the long and mind-numbing days waiting for it to be released. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the original Battlezone, and even to people who have never played Battlezone. Do yourself a favor and go buy this game now.

Chillingo offers a free version where the limit appears to be that you only get one life. It's certainly a way to test to see if the full $3 version is right for you.

Vector Tanks is compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running the iPhone 2.2 software update.

Vector Tanks is the brainchild of programmer extraordinaire Peter Hirschberg, the inventor of the translucent vector effect technique in the mid 1990s - a technique which quickly became ubiquitous in arcade emulation implementations allowing programmers to enhance the visual qualities of vector style arcade games.

Vector Tanks Features :

* Enemies - 3D Tanks, Jeeps and mines
* Incredible physics - even flying shrapnel can take out other tanks
* Mind blowing particle system - watch the debris and shrapnel interact with the environment
* Superb iPhone specific landscape play - place a thumb on each side of the screen to control your tank
* Power-ups including rapid fire, shield and the nuke option!
* Out of this world explosions
* Unreal attention to sound detail - wear your headphones for the ultimate 80's arcade experience
* Many more features coming soon!
* In-game language automatically set to English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian or German
* Featuring music by Urbansnake! (on/off feature)

Get it here.

Just got Simon the Sorceror 1 and it controls way better than Monkey Island: SE. Sad, but maybe LucasArts will learn for their next remake.
