I am considering to buy an iPod Nano. But one question is bothering me: do u need to use iTunes or can u also use Windows Explorer to transfer songs to your player? I don't want to be stuck with a player that I can't use to store the songs I 'acquired' thru Limewire.

one reason i hate ipods u have to use itunes cant use any othere

itunes is the only thing you can use to transfer songs, but you can add songs from your CDs and hard drive as well as ones you buy off itunes... I've got hundreds of downloaded songs on my iPod.

And are you happy about how iTunes works?

very, i love it. beautiful integration with the iPod, good playlist utilities... etc

yeah u just have to use i-tunes to physcicaly put the songs on ur i-pod, you can download them using anything and then transfer them to i-tunes and then to your i-pod

Ah, great news, thanks! What do u guys think about the Nano anyway? I love how sleek it is. I think I am gonna get the black version.

too small for my tastes, i prefer the standard iPod, but all ipods kick ass anyway

Erm... my friend has an iPod and he uses it as a portable hard drive.
So I dont think you need to use iTunes.

you do to listen to music on it. portable hard drive functions like a flash drive or anyting else, you can drag files on it without itunes, but you can't listen to them

It is easy getting sounds from Limewire, to iTunes. First, get it where you can see both limewire and itunes windows at the same time. Then highlight as many songs you want in limewire, and drag them into iTunes library. Once you have all the info correct on the songs, go up to file, and click update :e.. Or whatever.. BAM, you got it.

Yeah you can load any MP3 into iTunes just like any other mp3 player (windows media player, winamp etc). A lot of people get iTunes player mixed up with the iTunes website to buy music and think that the iTunes player is restrictive when it isn't. You can also convert music to MP3 or ACC within iTunes so if you have some WMA's you wanna play on your iPod, no problem.

<-using iTunes right now and I don't have an Ipod. =p

Yeah, if you remotely like U2 or just like the color, go with u2 iPod, you get mostly all of their songs free (those for some reason i didn't know how to or something).

- But any time i try to load songs onto the iPod from windows media player, it doesn't recognize crap, and comes up with a lot of jumbled up numbers and letters...

You have to use iTunes for loading the songs onto the player since it uses its own method of storing the songs. And then it just uses the ID tags for organizing playback.

the only thing bad about itunes is u can only export in mp4

theres a program called iplay or xplay that allows you to access your ipod through explorer. runs like crap though
