Hey so heres the situation:
i was skating with my ipod in my pocket (i know, dumb thing to do, ill never do it again thats for sure) and anyways I come home really late, put the ipod on my desk, go to bed, wake up in the morning. Then I see my ipod screen is messed up. Theres a big blue blob on the right side, and kind of a line too. and half the screen doesnt work, so all I can see is the very left side of the screen. This mark still appears on the ipod even when it is shut off.
So yeah the warrenty thign says it does not cover accident, so that really sucks. So what should I do? i bought it at Best Buy, I'm wondering if I should take it there and ask them or what?
Just want your opinions.
ps. yes i know im an idiot for having in my pocket without a protective case thing :frown:

oh yeah and I've had it since May

The LCD is cracked. Only thing you can do is send it back, and see if they'll replace it [the screen].

that sucks. theres also a place that i heard is ok. iPodMods.com.

if you get apple ot reapir it. it will cost about $150-200 for parts and labour.(could be more if there are any other problems) with repairs you will not get the same ipod back. they basicly send you a refurb ipod that is the same as yours to cut down on wait time. and if you have it engraved they will switch the case for you.

DO NOT SEND IT TO BEST BUY ..they will lose it ..send it to apple. They're the only ones who can repair it

well it says right on apple's support site
If your iPod's LCD display is cracked due to accidental damage, do not send your iPod in for service. Coverage for this type of damage is excluded under Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod and AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod, and service is not available under the terms of Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions.
so yeah, am I screwed or what can I do, I mean I'm willing to pay I guess to get it repaired I jsut don't wanna pay the full price again :(;(

If it's a nano, I think the first batch was duff and Apple are replacing them

send it to apple ...it just says it's not covered by warrenty

although you should get them to clarify what this means:

"and service is not available under the terms of Apple's Repair Terms and Conditions. "

i should just get the battery to break then they will repair it.
and the site says you will receive a refurbished one, not the one that is sent in for repair...
*sigh* yeah anyways i guess I will just contact apple and ask or something. thanks for opinions/advice :)
edit: ask about the lcd thing lol, the battery was a joke

According to some statement I read at some site, it was the fault of the LCD manufacturer, and it effected 1% of shipped nanos.

But yeah, apple will replace it for you if it's a nano.

Damn you creative and your excellent customer support!

Hmmm.
*1 Month Later*
"Creative is out of Zen Micros!, but how?"
-W00t my 1,422,534 Zen Micro, the last one, arrived!

well the price for replacing the LCD is nuts, I think I'll get an ipod nano instead I guess...*sigh*... there goes all my money

and hope they dont lose it, along with the paperwork that you sent it in with.

also

Warranty: 1 year limited hardware warranty / 90 day service warranty

so after 90 days you have to pay for labour on anything that breaks weather its your fault or not.
