As far as I know the IRA are many groups, at least one of them is peacful.

The IRA wanted to go political in 1970s however some did not, these formed a new group called the provisinal IRA and shot 100 IRA members. Then the real IRA emerged and were violent. Then when the provisinol IRA, stopped using violence the continual IRA started who are violent. Non of these groups howver have been active for a while. So the statement today doesnt really affect anyone, its just words nothing more.

Although Ima republican, there all evil at the moment all the groups really.

The provisionals are the "serious" IRA. The Real IRA presented a threat a few years back, but they fell to pieces when MI5 and such infiltrated their ranks to saturation, and internal conflicts tore them apart. This does mean something, though, as words are really one of the biggest factors in helping NI build and maintain peace. Hopefully this will be the first domino to fall, and hopefully the other groups will follow suit.

And, to Solaris, I don't think NI has been imprisoned or held against its will since its inception. When the majority of the people in NI want to become a part of the Republic, I'd be very happy to let them go. It's called democracy, and I think it's rather important to keep it.

The IRA, arent really a problem any more, its the loyalist paramilitaries which are the problem, currently the UDA/UVF are having a bloody fued with the LVF

Certain areas will never want to be part of the republic ie. Antrim and north Down. Also I don't really see the point in changing governments they are all the same.
