I'm starting to wonder about how I feel about the whole Iraq situation,

Yes, our governments lied to us, raped Iraq's oil, killed a lot of people. But at the same time, more Iraqi's think their lives have improved rather than got worse: source. I do believe we hold an obligation to help people all over the world.

I'm not really sure what to think.

are you sure you're reading the article right?

More than six in 10 Iraqis now say that their lives are going badly -- double the percentage who said so in late 2005 -- and about half say that increasing U.S. forces in the country will make the security situation worse

Forty-two percent say their lives have improved, down from 51 percent in 2005 and 56 percent in 2004. Thirty-six percent now say things in their lives are worse today, up from 29 percent in the 2005 pol

Yes, but presumably their lives were going badly before the occupation too.

Now, I think the way we went about things is absolutely criminal, but it appears that more Iraqi's think their lives have improved than not. Does that not make the invasion a good thing?

of course it was going badly before the occupation ..1.5 million of them died of preventable diseases due to the sanctions/poor sanitation due to coalition bombing ..and even now it's still worse than during that time period ..at least they didnt have to worry about being blown to bits ..just dying a horrible death from malnutrition

and no Solaris Iraqis lives have not improved, it's far worse ..your poll proves that

poll said:
Forty-two percent say their lives have improved, Thirty-six percent now say things in their lives are worse today

The rest think their lives have stayed the same.
Although I imagine in reflection, ending the sanctions could have improved a lot of lives.

that is NOT an improvement ..58% say their lives are worse or the same than before the occupation

66% believe their lives are better than or the same as before the occupation.

yes but you're assuming the "same" means "better" as in better than the occupation but the poll doesnt stipulate as to what "the same" means ...the ones who answered "the same" could be saying "ya well we were starving before and we're starving now, so it's the same" ..it is highly unlikely they're saying "well we had it good before and now it's just as good so about the same"

Those poll numbers are suprisingly high since I know I saw a poll not too long ago showing that 90% of sunnis and a similar number of shias wanted the US out of their country. What percentage of that poll was done in Kuwait? I have to get back to work so I didn't really read the article so I apologize if this was mentioned in there.
