A thread designed in an attempt to accomodate any discussion on Iraq. Hopefully people can discuss debates that were OT in other threads, in this one. Other threads can be used to discuss specific events in Iraq (ex. elections) while this one can be used to discuss topics that spring off of such a specific discussion. Obviously, feel free to close this if it is somehow is breaking the new OT rules placed on this particular board. :cheers:

The whole point of the OT rules are to avoid and prevent the politics threads from becoming an argument free-for-all.
I understand a lot of you have a lot to say, but you'll have to learn to control yourselves.
With a thread that has a specific theme (or "thread" hence the name), this can be achieved, but in an extremely general thread such as this, there is no way it can harbour anything but the attempts by individuals to needlessly repeat, over, and over, their own, unwavering standpoints, with no real stimulus other than their own arguments, which only builds further argument and flames.

This is the reason "the arena" was closed down- it was simply a spam/OT free for all.
Its the same reason we have moderators in the off topic section.

So, for the privilege of "Politics", you're all going to have to learn to have civilised, contained, and relevant discussion.
No more wavering all over the place- its been demonstrated that this simply leads to flaming and the deterioration of whatever community still exists around here.

Rather than delete the politics section completely, it's been modified.
It would be nice that all partcipants were a little more grateful that the moderators of the site have decided to put up with the extra work to keep this section alive for your benefit/enjoyment, rather than simply closing it and having a little (well.. a lot) less to deal with.
Its hard to fight the spam/flames when noone has really put any effort in so far, and selfishly used the forum just to push their personal politics.
This is your second chance at the politics section, dont mess it up!
