First time i've ever ventured into the #halflife2 chatroom - and it was unavoidably my last because I was banned.

What the hell is that about?? I had been in there for 4 minutes following a discussion (*not talking at all*) and watching HalfLife2 beta adverisers being banned when I was banned myself by some person or bot called HotSoup.

Well, I do have to ask and I think it's only right you tell me why I was banned - is there a rule against not talking, or maybe I was offending my monitor by staring at it (bless it, it's so shy).

Like HotSoup not taking the time to tell me why I was being banned, I wont take the time searching for him in the member database.

The moderators are really pissed off right now, because of people's behaviour in the channel. Understandably. By posting your system specs there at an unfortunate time, you didn't contribute to making their life easier. They're only human.

I posted my system specs? Oh joy. Shame I didn't see this, but thanks for letting me know, I suppose it's some form of reason.

I didn't know that posting system specs was a banable offence anyway

It'll probably be lifted tonight. The channel is a pain in the ass right now and we're cracking down. That includes needless "spam" such as pasting system specs.

We've been dealing with up to 1000 people between a few people all day and I'm sorry if we got a little strict but it's either that or close the channel permanently. or limit it to a fraction the size.

The channel will be re-opened later tonight most likely.
