I might be getting the H10.

Well, my question is, how reliable are they? If the size is what it says it is, then wow this thing is small. How do they sound? On average how long is their battery life? I saw on Newegg one for 126.99 with rebate. Amazing if you ask me. I am going to purchase it but I just need to know everything about it.

Here is the Newegg link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16855150045

Please post if you have any comments either harsh or good. Thanks a lot for your responses!

ummm did every think to check the main company site iriver.com and i have the IMP - 450 and its sound great iriver has all excellant products

I might as well not get that MP3 player. IF you read the rebate, I have to be a RealNetworks Rhapsody-To-Go subscriber. What the bloody hell is that? I mean seriously why trick me like that. I might as well not get that now. I really wanted it too.

I'm still looking for an MP3 player though.. So someone offer me suggestions.

most of the brands ive used have no problem with them working. its basicly want you want for features. the only one i dont sudjest is a creative mp3 player.

Shamrock I've no idea about the Real store, but I thought the H10 worked with Napster-to-Go? You might wanna check that out...

what he means is that he has to be a real subscriber to get the $100 mail in rebate

why do you not reccomend a creative player. I personally think they are so much better than the ipod but have never tried an iriver. Anyways I have a creative zen touch and it is one of the best purchases i have ever made. It is small enough, light weight, easy to use with windows, sound quality is superior to anything else i have heard due to eax capabilities, 30gb storage, easy to use touch interface it really makes me wonder why you dont like creative products when they are of such high quality

new sony 1g flash mp3 player is good.
I would rather have something with more than 4 GB.. That is why I really would have liked that iRiver since it would have been an awesome price.. I am really thinking about getting the Creative Zen Micro..

The Rhapsody-To-Go is a subcription service similar to Napster's. You pay a monthly fee and get unlimited downloads, but as soon as your subscription is up, those downloads won't work anymore.

It's good if you want access to a lot of music, but it sucks if you actually want to own your music. Unless you want to pay a subscription for the rest of your life. You can also only use the files on your computer or compatible mp3 device. Forget about burning them to a cd. Currently the only way to strip the DRMs is recording an output file through a compatible media player with those features, and even then the sound quality and time usually isn't worth it.

ok well fair enough revised soul but to be honest i have never had a problem with mine and yes the zen micro is also good, just takes a while to get used to the touch pad.

The problem with that is I would have to pay $15 a month. I guarentee I would not use it. But it says I have to be an annual subscriber meaning I have to have at least 1-2 months under my belt before I can actually use that rebate. So forget all that hullabaloo.

Yeah, I honestly hate those subscription services. Locks all your music into a computer or MP3 player and the only way to actually keep listening to your library, that you've no doubt scoured, searched and collected for, is to pay them 15$ a month forever.

My point exactly.

Now, I think I have narrowed it down to the Creative Zen Micro, but the problem is I have only found the 5 GB for around ~$200 everywhere. Is there some discount retailer that would have it for less?

I still am open to other suggestions on MP3 players. Tell me your bad experiences with any whether its the iPod, iRiver, or the Creative.

Thanks!

I've had my iPod for about a year and a half now. Previously I had a Creative Nomad Jukebox. Creative isn't bad, but I personally wouldn't go back to them. They just don't have the same quality and attention to detail you get from an Apple or iRiver player. Most people buy an iPod because of the looks, but I like just how easy and simple it is in use. If you're looking for a more feature heavy player with things like AM/FM radio and line in recording, then I'd look into an iRiver product. If you're looking for something that's extremely well designed with intuitive controls and a high attention to quality and detail, then I'd go with an iPod. Apple has student discount prices available if you order from their website as well. With the discount you can get a 4GB iPod mini with free shipping and laser engraving for $179.

edit: My favorite thing about an iPod is the ability to setup smart playlists in iTunes with tons of filter options. Your iPod and iTunes track how many times each song is played and the date is was last played on, as well as a 5 star rating system. You can setup smart playlists that use filters to autmatically create updatable playlists based on the info you specify. For example, I have a playlist that only plays 5 star rated songs that haven't been played in the last 2 weeks. So it sort of sets up a rotating radio station based on my musical tastes.

How do I get the special discount? Does it work for the 6GB model? If it does, then I will definetly order the Apple.
My friend has a Creative Zen Touch and it sounds awesome. I compared it to the iPod Mini and it seems like Creative comes out on top.

Go way down to the bottom left and click on the Education Discounts Section and then just follow the steps. It's really easy.

6GB minis go for 229$ although you're best deal would be to save up the extra 40$ and get the 20GB model. Only 40$ more for an extra 16GB.

I've heard people say they got rid of their Zen Touch for an iPod Mini. It all depends on what features and style you're looking for.
