Design approach from Valve to increase the game immersion aspect that you are Gordon Freeman, just like we cant see his feet, or come across any mirrors.

you actually can see his feet...

no you cant

...at the end of half life 1 when the G-man offers you the "job" ... make sure your flashlight is on when you step into the portal. the when the G-man says = "i'll see you up ahead" the camera shows the G-man talking and then scrolls down to show your pointy feet.

try it ;)

OP try using the search button next time , this has been asked many times , and banana... BS.

no really... do you have HL1?

just go and see for yourself :frown:

Thread answer lies here...

No, Gordon isnt mute, he just doesnt talk.

During Episode 2 we hear Eli mention Gordon saying 'Prepare for unforseen Consequences' before entering the test chamber in HL1. Obviously this never happens in-game but all the same, Gordon can talk.

He says the G-Man says "prepare for unforeseen consequences".

My "friend"/colleague thought this. God, he was such an arrogant moron. I tried convincing him otherwise. He didn't believe me. He played it through again. He never brought it up again.

No. He says something along the lines of '...before you stepped into the test chamber, you whispered them in my ear...'

....
This thread hath been derailed.

Victory! :D

This thread is similar to what WWI was like actually being in it...

It started out bad, and will go nowhere in 2 years, and by then, Episode 3 will be out and we will be twiddling our thumbs for another 5 years for HL3.

he says "before you stepped into the test chamber, HE whispered them in my ear"

he's referring to the gman. that part was kind of important

In the HL1 manual, it contains a letter from the administrator to Gordon about a PHONE CONVERSATION they had. he is not mute.

I think gordans jest dosent want to talk considering that everytime he has a chance to say something happens or the other people around him finish the conversation on their own. So by now, im sure gordan has jest given up hope of ever being able to talk ;(

I think he just doesn't want to talk.

-By the way, WHY do people still spelling Gordon's name Gordan?Sorry combineftw but it just annoys me :)

sorry dude... but thats weak. why would he "jest give up hope of ever being able to talk"?

Because they forget the all important Golden Rule of Half-Life protagonists.

Shephard, Gordon.

Yeah well i cant spell for **** so i hear gor-dan and i end up spelling it that way, although you could say his name like gordan or gordon, i belive iv heared both before, or maybe beacuse they sound alike i got them mixed up.

Gordon could be talking about what he would say? Better yet would he sound like? I bet he would be a good sexy as David Haselhoff, or Arnold Shwarzenegger. Or, perhaps as Leonardo DiCaprio.

Maybe he can not talk, because he started his language eaten by a headcrap. ^^

If I was Gordon, i wouldn't talk either, considering all the BS the characters throw at you.

He talks, we just dont hear him in game. Valve decided not to create a personality and a voice for Gordon, to not ruin our connection with him.

he probably isnt; the idea of a silent protagonist is something about the player creating their own sense of the character. . . . . . or something like that
